I'm low on sertraline, and now I have to wait to get more. I have enough left to last until this coming Wednesday. My mom ordered more 2 days ago, and she said my doctor will take care of it. What if it doesn't come next week? I'm worried I'll suffer withdrawal.

Mom said I'll go to a new doctor Thursday, and he might put me on something else. Since I'm low, she's suggested only taking half on Sunday to make sure I have some for Thursday, which is the appointment. Will I go through withdrawal?

What if the doctor decides I don't need sertraline?

I'm not a doctor. Can't really know what you'll go through when you change meds or miss a dose or anything. You'll get through it though, bud.

You should not change the dosage your doctor has prescribed for you to take. You and your mother are not doctors, and are not qualified to decide if and when to change your dose. Call your current OR future doctor for advice on how much you should continue to take. Only your doctor can give you the right information for you.

sertaline has a pretty decent half life so you shouldnt go through withdrawal too terribly.

additionally take your medication AS PRESCRIBED by a doctor, additionally I would seriously recommend looking into therapy, not a slight against you buddy. It's just your anxiety will not vanish would sertaline alone, look into CBT.

My mom said we might have to get an appointment with someone else to get my sertraline. What if I have to wait until next week for that appointment?

i take ssri's also, and have done for a very long time vg_addict, trust me when I say a week without wont kill you, however you should always take initiative and ensure you always have enough medication. On your own accord book an appointment as soon as you can. The ifs and whats will only make you feel worse. There's a clear point a and point b in this situation, point a is where you are at right now, point b is sorting this appointment, don't let your thoughts deviate from that straight line of thinking, it won't help.

Your doctor can answer your question about what happens if you miss any medication. That said, you shouldn't reduce your medication without your doctor's knowledge and him/her approving it.

Talk with your mom; ask her exactly when the appointment is. If you know this information, it will help alleviate your anxiety about it and you can plan accordingly. In a serious pinch, talk with your pharmacist (the one who fills your current prescription) and ask them if they have x-amount of days worth of your medication that can be issued to tide you over until your appointment. Make sure you know the date of your appointment before discussing this with your pharmacist.

Stay well. *leaves you marshmallows* :D
