Of all things, gypsy is one I have never heard. I understand why it is used as an insult, but outside of old people from parts of Europe, I can't imagine why anyone would use it these days. In fact, the person ought to be ashamed that the insult is off the mark. If you are in fact, not a gypsy, it makes no sense to call you one. It is people like that, that can't even even insult properly, that really make me hate people. It is so offensive to me that I can't even find the right insult for such a person. Idiot and stupid are a given, but too common. I would probably just tell them their insults lack context and are based on droll stereotypes that even nonagenarians in Germany and Russia would probably be ashamed of using as an insult. I would also advise that this person ask their parents, should the unfortunate people that spawned them still live, what exactly they were drinking before they conceived the idiot, because it surely could not have happened as anything but an unfortunate accident. And for that matter, someone ought to apologize for this person being in charge of anything. Someone has to be responsible for helping that come about at some point, and they ought to regret it.
^ Seems like you may be stretching what that means. I always thought it was a race of people, but it has a secondary definition; a free-spirited person.
Are you sure it's an insult toward you?
I guess I should clarify word for word what he said. "You are acting like a **** gypsy." And another time "Stop acting like a **** gypsy" and then it was "You look like a gypsy". Nobody seemed to even react around me to the word being used. It was obvious to me he was insulting me. I consider myself a hard working individual. He considers me otherwise. In his context, it is highly offensive and a racial slur which I take personal offense to. It may not be a common word used, but it is most definitely a racial slur to people from Romania.
Holy sh*t dude, your assistant manager is an asshat. Go get their asses for that. That's like entrapment (isn't it?).
If this is a Right to Work state, then sadly any attempt at suing for wrongful termination will be knocked out with the words "Frivolous Lawsuit". :/

There are a lot of of Gypsies in south eastern Europe compared to other areas of it, but they are not Romanians. One of the terms used for them, Romani, does sound similar. Romania is called what it is because it is named after the Romans. The Romanian language is similar to French, Italian, and Spanish, because it follows Latin words closely. That makes it unusual in an area with a lot of Slavic languages, Turkish, and Greek.
Gypsies or Romani typically look "Indian" and their language is close to Indo-Iranian languages. It is usually suggested that they come from the area around modern Pakistan, Rajastan, and maybe up to eastern Iran. At some point in the Middle Ages they started migrating west, and tribes of them broke off along the migration, scattering them around the Middle East(there are gypsies in Egypt for example). Most probably entered Europe via Anatolia, which is why they were concentrated in South Eastern Europe in their greatest numbers. Some went further in, and so most of Europe had roaming populations of gypsies at some point.

^ Wasn't the name "Gypsy" sorta from "Egypt", because it was assumed they were Egyptian?
^ew that's a good point...
e: Looking at a map, nowhere in New England is a Right to Work state. It's mostly the South, the Midwest, and parts of the Southwest with exceptions.
Might as well be - from what I hear it's pretty damn hard to get anyone (even in New England) successfully sued for wrongful termination unless you have proof that you were, say, fired to quash a sexual harassment lawsuit.
