People in charge on power trips.
I just graduated last month from my degree program in respiratory care. While studying for my boards I took a part time job helping out at this local hotel/condo area. I'm starting to already get annoyed by it though because the CEO seems to automatically assume that I'm stupid or something. I just started last week but I overheard her talk to other employees that she doesn't have expectations for me to do well around the hotel and said (and I quote) "He looks stupid. He's creepy and quiet". Sorry that I'm just shy because I'm in a new environment. It hurt my feelings overhearing that and I'd have been much better today had she said it to my face. I did nothing wrong so far either so for her to say that, it pissed me off. I guess she's known for being a bitch and treating her other employees poorly though. I'm a nice guy at heart so I won't say anything, and I'm grateful to be making some money after college until I find a real job though. It really discouraged me though and I was hurt. I kinda wanted to cry as cheesy as that sounds.

I sort of know that feeling. You really want to knock it out of the park and impress your boss and stuff. Although my boss is annoying he never said anything like your CEO. My boss is more like an egocentric hipster. I swear, everything he says begins with, "You probably never heard of this but--"or "I don't expect you to know this but--"
It could just be she has jitters of having a new guy around. Make sure you greet her every time you see her and ask how she's doing. Even if you don't have much to say, common courtesies leave impressions. Take me. I goof off at work all the time. I should be doing something but I'm on VGF. But because of the fact that I smile all the time and nod my head, my boss totally trusts me.
