It serves its purpose but yeah I had some issues showing depth with the snow palette and the natural shapes. Some things don't necessarily work the way you want them to when you convert them to 2D, so I'm not fussed about it. The very bottom of the pic is obscured in the game, anyway, so the bottom bit of the image doesn't really interfere with the image's effectiveness.

The real issue being that it's snow, and snow doesn't actually show depth well. Even after a storm's ended, you could miss a canyon completely, if you were there in person. I could've added a stump in the foreground as a depth and perspective cue, at least, but that'll be a lesson for next time.

The new artwork really makes the game far more engaging. Also the the cabin area with the old man and the way the scenery changes after the battle....most excellent.

Glad you liked it, Joker! Coming up with a way to change the background, etc, was a real challenge with the simple engine we've got.

Lessons learned from it will be very useful in the future!

AI finished a new background for the Crater. This marks the second area of the RPG he's now provided all original artwork for. Let's give him a hand for all his hard work.

Hey, thanks Crav! You too, Val. I wrestled with the ice quite a bit, and I think it came out looking great as a result. The thief's shack is my favorite part, though, easily.

The NPCs in Tireal have all been replaced with higher quality art. Go and check it out, first screen in the game.

And if you're still seeing the old images, try refreshing the pages or clearing out your browser cache.
