What's a good utility for recording sounds on my PC? By that I mean, I need something that can record sounds that are made by my computer.

Hmmm... I've never had much luck with this -- most of the good ones out there make you pay. Are you looking for something free, or are you willing to pay?

Go to your volume controls, Options>Properties, then, from the two options available(Playback and Recording), choose "Recording", and close the properties window. Then, from your recording options, choose "Stereo Mixer", and close the window. You'll be able to record your computer's sounds from Sound Recorder.

Also, to get a good quality recording, go to Sound Recorder, go to File>Properties, then the properties window will pop up, click "Convert now", and yet another window will appear. On the topmost drop-down box, go to "CD Quality", and click "OK", then "OK" again on the properties window.
