Do you guys like stand-up comedy? I sure do.

One of my favourites is good old Steve Martin. I've got all his albums (two on LP! 'Wild and Crazy Guy' and 'Let's Get Small'. I had the opportunity to buy 'Comedy Isn't Pretty' on LP a couple years back, but I didn't because I'm evidently the dumbest man alive). Man, Steve Martin kills me dead.
I like Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg a whole bunch, too. And natch poor old Norm MacDonald. Gods below, that guy couldn't catch a fair shake. I miss him.
Any of you guys heard of Sean Locke? He died of cancer a couple years back. Mainstay of British panel comedy shows like '8 Out of 10 Cats' and 'Would I Lie To You'. Legend, man. He sounded like Michael Caine possessed by demons from hell. One of the funniest dudes ever.

I liked Norm, especially after his passing when I looked into his stuff more. He's great.
I like Luis C.K's older material, and most of Dave Chappelle's. Eddie Murphy was hilarious.
Kevan Moezzi is less well known but always cracks me up.

Ooh,
yeah Eddie Murphy. I'd watch 'Delirious' any old time.
I'll look Kevan Moezzi up. I'm always up for new stuff I ain't heard of before.
Steve Martin...like, I listened to his records when I was a kid, I loved his silliness and intellectualism, but now I've seen him on YouTube, I appreciate him as a visual performer, as well. He's the whole ball of wax!

Sure, I'll include his channel
here so you guys can check him out if you want.
Steve Martin I'm familiar with but mostly as an actor, he's usually really funny. I actually wasn't aware he did stand-up but I'm not surprised, I should take a look.
I wonder if Chevy Chase did stand-up? I feel like I remember that he did.

It's hard for stand-up comedians to keep up a career. Seems like the trajectory is stand-up into acting (especially VA; man, remember when you could watch a stand-up special starring Denis Leary, John Leguizamo or Ray Romano instead of seeing a crappy 'Ice Age' flick? Yeah, me neither).

^Leguizamo did stand-up!?
I love stand-up. Some favorites: Robin Williams, Mitch Hedberg, Eddie Izzard, Craig Ferguson, Taylor Tomlinson, Eddie Murphy, Gallagher, Richard Pryor, Tig Notaro, Patton Oswalt, Whitney Cummings, Ron White, Jim Gaffigan, Cameron Esposito, Bo Burnham, Gabriel Iglesias, Harry Anderson, & Robin Williams again because it's my list.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Yeah, he did. I remember being a kid and saw him on TV doing stand-up, and my kid brain thought it was Luigi telling jokes.

Ohh man, I just realised-------------they almost certainly picked Steve Martin to play one of Pharaoh's magicians in 'Prince of Egypt' because of "King Tut", right? It can't be a coincidence.
Eddie Izzard is one of the favourites, definitely. Man alive. 'Dress to Kill' is one of the best comedy shows you ever saw.
You know what bums me out a little? I feel like I'm not allowed to enjoy 'Bill Cosby-----Himself' no more. It was one of the great concert films, and now because it turns out Bill Cosby is a despicable degenerate, you need to have got it on DVD back before the hellish nightmare spawned. Man, these days it's easier to get a copy of 'Triumph of the Will' or 'Birth of a Nation' than 'Bill Cosby------Himself'. Clearly Bill Cosby doesn't need to be canceled harder than the ratzis or the KKK. Come on. Like, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to carry water for Cosby the man, but 'Bill Cosby-----Himself' will never not be a great comedy show.
[EDIT: So there's a bigtime double standard about joke-stealing, man. People piss all over Denis Leary for supposedly poaching jokes from Bill Hicks, they'll throw Dane Cook under the bus for stealing a joke from Louis C K, but...Louis C K kind of stole the joke from Steve Martin and Bill Cosby in the first place. Everyone already despised that turd Carlos Mencia-------------the fact that he lifted a joke almost word-for-word from 'Bill Cosby-----Himself' is barely relevant. And man, nobody cares that Robin Williams kind of took material from Jonathan Winters. Is Amy Schumer somehow more culpable for joke theft than everyone else ever?]

I like stand-up a lot. Norm MacDonald was one of the funniest people ever. I quote little Mitch Hedberg jokes more than I can help it. Eddie Izzard's 'Dressed to Kill" is crazy good. I'm always impressed with Bo Burnham's stuff. John Mulaney is pretty great. James Acaster had a special I really liked. Jimmy Carr can get away with anything but tax evasion. On the subject of Jimmy Carr, I didn't know Sean Locke did stand-up. I only know him from funny game show clips, but those are fantastic.

Of course, then again, he did want to bring back the Nazis.

Man. Best part of that bit was that Jimmy just went for it. Didn't let Sean try and explain himself. 'Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to welcome you, on behalf of Channel 4, to the end of Sean Locke's career.' Brilliant.
