I'm off to a start:
1) Encanto - A
2) Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts - B. A bit disorganized, but good discussions. Yates *really* didn't understand the final battle.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

4) Sleeping Beauty - C+. Gorgeous artwork, but the movie as a whole was boring.
5) The Return of Jafar - D+
6) Ratatouille - A-
7) About A Boy - B
8) The Karate Kid (1984) - B+
9) Beauty & the Beast (1991) - A-
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Shut In ('22)
I think it's the first movie I watched this year. It was good, but I really only watched it to support the studio. The ending was probably the best part because it picks up pace.

15) Home Movie: The Princess Bride - B. It's cute. Some performances are great, others are bland.
16) Dance Academy: The Movie - B-
17) Hilda and the Mountain King - A-
18) Werewolves Within - A-
19) The Fault in Our Stars - B+
20) Deadpool - A-
21) How to Train Your Dragon - A-
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I rewatched Dragon Ball Super: Broly in since the new one is coming up. It's the first time I've seen it again from beginning to end, I usually just watch the fight scenes. It starts off a bit too abruptly, as if it's flowing directly from the last episode of the show. That's not really a bad thing, it's a canon film, but it doesn't hold up as as well as a standalone movie like older ones did.
Even the previous two Dragon Ball Super movies felt a bit more self-contained (especially Battle of Gods), like many old DBZ films did. Anyone can jump into the old Broly, Android 13, or Bojack films and enjoy them because they have their own settings (which, again, is probably easier due to their non-canon nature allowing more freedom).
The DBS: Broly fight scenes still hold up amazingly and set the bar very high for the series though, and I really don't see how they can be topped.

22) Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring - A
23) The Princess & the Frog - B+
24) To All the Boys I've Loved Before - B
25) To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You - B-
26) To All the Boys: Always & Forever - C+
27) Freaky - B+. Gorier than it needed to be, but good performances from Vaughn & Newton.
28) A Little Princess (1995) - B-
29) Spontaneous - B-. Unlike the main character, I spent the last 10 minutes in terror of something happening rather than just feeling jaded resignation to it potentially happening.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I watched 'Batman: The Movie' the other day for the first time in years and years.
...there are better Batman flicks, but none of them get me grinning ear-to-ear throughout.

Saw 'Encanto' tonight.
...it was alright. Music was fine, but the pacing was a little off-------it kind of felt like they spent an hour and change on setup and then crowbarred all the plot and resolution into the last twenty-odd minutes.
Also, I don't really get why everyone went ape over "We Don't Talk About Bruno". Not that it's bad.
I don't think I'd like to live in a scary sentient monster house. I think it takes a special kind of dangerous lunatic to want that------‐----an Addams, a Heterodyne, a Peewee Herman or Captain Picard. Like, does anyone at Hogwarts actually enjoy having the staircases move around of their own volition? Is forced magical whimsy worth the inconvenience of letting your dumb stairs do whatever they want?

I watched 'The Mitchells vs. the Machines' tonight.
You know, I like 'Encanto', but 'Mitchells' is better in every way. It feels like another 'Into the Spider-verse' or 'Lego Movie'.
I guess I'd be more annoyed if undeserving Disney/Pixar flicks didn't seem always to win Best Animated as a matter of course (remember when garbagey 'Finding Nemo' beat 'Triplets of Belleville'? I know I do, and I know I'll never not be ticked off about it).

We've been doing a LOT of shows recently, including all of "Hotel del Luna", hence the slowed count as of late.
30) The Batman - A-. The first real detective Bat since Keaton, & I loved his relationship with Gordon.
31) Spider-Man: No Way Home - A-
32) Last Night in Soho - A. Very different tone for an Edgar Wright film, but his style & the leads' performances are killer.
33) Turning Red - B. The first 5 minutes were everything I hated about the girls I went to middle school with, but after that it got good.
34) Geek Charming - C. Some genuinely good moments, but overall meh, & it's pretty sad in hindsight.
35) Walk Hard - A
36) West Side Story - B+. Great execution, & some interesting changes, but it still felt *very* remakey.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
