Cube Wars Online

This game must be made! It's logical that it would be anyway. Every other Nintendo system (except maybe Virtual Boy) has had a Wars game.

Graphics
This game's graphics should be cel-shaded. I think it should resemble Tales of Symphonia for GCN.

Multiplayer
Cube Wars should definately go online. My dream: 16 player battles. Four on four on four on four. It would still be turn-based but instead of one at a time, it could go four at a time.

Gameplay
The gameplay should remain the same as it has always been with whatever additions Intelligent Systems comes up with.

Extras
Since this would be an online game clans should and would be formed. I think a create-a-CO function would be very nice. No pay-per-play. Iwata-san stated that gamers shouldn't have to pay for online pay.

There's a lot more that could be done with this. Any thoughts?

(I should e-mail Nintendo about this)

At last. The first GOOD idea I've ever come across on this Board.

You're quite correct, Falco. 3-D Online Wars (that'd be a good title) is exactly what we need. It would be easy and practical for Nintendo to make... not too much data would need to be switched back and forth, making it ideal.

Personally, I don't think there'd be many things you'd need to add... the formula has remained more or less unchanged since it's NES days...

...but you could add new units, perhaps, which take advantage of the Online play in some way... you'd also want to make the maps and characters 3-D rendered (3-D Nell... *sigh*)

Maybe make it so you can pick your unit's formation, which can affect your damage taken and given? Maybe make it so you can actually aim your missles, and the other guy gets to try to move out of the way to minimize damage?

I dunno, way too many possibilities. But yes, this game must be made.

But please, Falco, don't write to them about it. It's like wishing on a star. If you say it out loud, it can't come true, only here, it involves lawyers and the like.

A game company does it's best not to make games based on outsider's ideas. It's important that people understand this.

You see, that's why I don't share my game ideas. Too much risk.

Don't worry. It'll get made. It'll get there... and it will verily ROCK!

Create a CO is good, too, but how could you make a program to let you design your own CO Powers? There are so many variables...

Create-a-CO could get very complicated. My oppinion is that it should start off with the "look." Ya' know, what your CO is wearing(kind of like Tony Hawk's create-a-skater). You could pick face type, shirt, pants, hair, shoes, make-up- okay maybe make-up is going a little too far- but you get the picture.

Next would be attribute points. Choosing where your CO's strength lies. The tricky part of this comes with CO Powers. The true strength of some AW COs lies within their CO powers, so they have low attributes. So the game would have to have a way to balance between firepower and CO powers.

The unrealistic part would indivuality in CO powers. How could you create a CO power? I'm not sure but I have an idea that might remedy this problem. Since this will be an online game, you would obviously be connected to the internet. My vision is that CO powers could be unlocked and downloaded, even fought for. Nintendo could hold tournaments between clans or individuals and the winner get the CO power.

This is all from my imagination of course, and it might not even be feasible. I just hope that great (or not so great) minds really do think alike.

Actually, unlockable powers or powers you could win is pretty imaginitive. You know, you might possibly have what it really takes to be a game designer. Imagination and problem-solving ability.

One fear I have about unlockable powers, however. What happens when players go around sucking them all up? Not only do their COs get too powerful to be used in regular mode (if you even allow that) but they also end up with a way unfair advantage against other online players.

And, even when most of the Internet's players end up getting all the CO powers, you'd then end up with everyone being pretty much the same.

Now, maybe if you made it so each unlockable or earnable CO power is weak in itself, and you can only hold four of them (only at which point you'd have the equivalent of a real CO), THEN you may have something...

Oh, I got a new idea, too. How about Minelayer and Minesweeper Units?

Darn, this is fun.

How about nights as well as days, and certain COs being stronger and weaker at night? How about powering up attacks based on whether you attack from behind, front, sides, etc.?

This would rule if it did come out.

Well, for the sake of the argument, let's say that each CO can have 3 powers, no more, no less: a normal CO power, a super CO power, and an ultimate CO power. By dividing it up into classes there is a way to stop power abuse. So you have 5 ultimate CO powers, so what? You can only use one.

Another idea I had was CO type. This might be complicating things too much or it might be a good idea. I'm not sure how you could divide into classes but I guess it would just be something like close-range specialist, long-range specialist, infantry specialist, air specialist, etc. The class could be defined after you have used your attribute points. The purpose for this would be for the CO powers. Certain classes of COs could use certain kinds of CO powers (think the HMs and TMs in Pokemonm, but not exactly). This just a suggestion, though.

Ultimately you should be able to create as many CO's as your memory card can handle.

More later but I have to disconnect.

That's the best you could come up with? At least give me some funny spam!

We're in a Game Ideas forum. I doubt anyone else has come up with a game idea that was made into a game.

So does anyone have any thoughts on anything besides the unlikelyhood of this game being made?

I would by this game, but the name would need to be different. Cube Wars Online sounds out of place, and the world doesn't need another cell shaded game. The graphics should be like an anime cartoon, and they could make dramatic short movies in anime of the CO's before and during battles. The online thing and the night battles are great suggestions, though!

In order for it to have the look of an anime cartoon it would have to be cel-shaded.

Have you seen Tales of Symphonia? It looks like anime.

FMV sequences would work for a 1-player mode but not when online.

Thank you.

Any other thoughts?

It wouldn't necessarily need to be cell shaded. I think they could make it look like a tv shoe like Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball Z, which in my oppinion do not look cell-shaded.But I'll put this aside, since we are all united under one simple goal...Gamecube Advance Wars! And I did mean Campaign mode whem I referred to the short videos.

As for the idea of this never being made, I'd tend to disagree. A game like this would be a logical step for Nintendo in the Wars series. I don't know how many (if any) of these ideas would get used, but... Online Wars (the more probable title) would be very likely to occur once Nintendo goes online.

Actually, the next DBZ fighter will be cel-shaded and it's graphics are awesome.

Anime is a cartoon. Cell-shading makes things look like a cartoon (Robotech). So I'm assuming you're talking about a graphical style similar to Skies of Arcadia.

I don't actually care about the name as long as it's online.
