Current Mission: Training
You have been led blindfolded to the underground headquarters of the Bjensfir Tong. The expansive complex is insulated by the layers of snow above and the fires burning in the numerous hearths scattered about. Rough hands remove your head covering, and you find the dim light to be little better than your previous darkness. Glancing to your left, you discover several others being led off into adjoining rooms. You notice a head peeking out from one of the rooms that the others were not dragged into.
Man: Hello? You! Come in.
Following his lead, you go in, following the corridor a bit before emerging into a large room. A small, pale, shifty man with blue eyes and white hair, wearing a pure white robe, greets you.
Man: Hello there. A new-- er... do you know what day it is?
Krow: Hm... uh... oh yes! But of course. The moons have set in the north.
He gives a tiny nod, after which his eyes dart back and forth, as they often do.
Man: Okay, good. You're safe. You're new here? A new recruit, good. What's your name?
Krow: The name's Krow.
Man: Right. Well, I'm Jygarl the White. I'm one of those who trains novices, called Snowflakes, here. I'll train you some, then we'll give you a blood note... gods know we have enough... and you'll be on your way. Now then, do you know how to pick locks?
Krow: Yes, I'm a decent lockpick.
Jygarl: Good, good. Saves me some training, heh. So, it shouldn't be a problem for you to unlock... these?
He makes a snapping gesture with his right hand, although no noise is emitted. With each flourish, another lock appears, which is then quickly transferred to the left. At the end, he has eight locks. He hands you the first.
Jygarl: There you go. Careful.
You take out your own set of thieves' tools, in an old brown leather case, and open them. Taking out a probe, you set to. You quickly discover an exploding rune. You very carefully disarm it. The lock itself is very simple, and you bypass it with ease. You toss it to him, who inspects it, nods, puts it aside, and hands you another. This continues, although the lock and trap types vary, with you making only sparing mistakes, none of which cause you harm. At the very last lock, he appears to fumble a bit, accidentally setting off the poison barb trap inside.
Jygarl: Ahh... dammit. Do you know about toxins, then?
Krow: Not really, sir.
Jygarl: Well. There's two kinds. You got your venoms and your applied poisons. Venoms are a little harder to use, but they're safer. They have to be directly in the bloodstream to take effect. That means you can put them on your weapon and stab someone, or you can put them in someone's food or drink. This here's an example of that. Applied poisons are trickier. Some of them take effect when you inhale them, and others only need to touch the skin. They're very dangerous-- be careful if you want to use them. Aaanyway, I've got a bit of shortstalk plant in me. Conveniently enough, through that trap-filled hall there-- the southern one-- is my good friend Hreklor the Temperate. You'll find out where he gets the name soon enough. So, you've got about an hour before I pass-- weaken-- well, die. Now, none of us want that, so go in and get it.
You enter the hall as Jygarl calmly takes a seat against a wall. What do you want to do?

Yeah, there's 12 ranks, based around snow. I'll post them up once one of you passes the training.
You creep along the right-hand wall. Very quickly you notice a wire spanning the width of the hall, directly in front of you. You halt before running into it.
Do what? You don't see anything on the left wall, although on the far wall you spot a door.

Nah, not right now. You might get a small bonus in actual quests, but most of the time if it serves no purpose other than putting you in potential danger I won't give any reward.
Alright, you step around it and continue along the right-hand wall. You reach the far corner without finding any traps. There's a locked door a couple feet to your left. Do what?

You locate a trap, which you think is a sleep trap. You attempt to disarm it and succeed. You attempt to unlock it and succeed. Satisfied with yourself, you proceed through and find a room with strangely fluctuating temperature, in which a wide-eyed man is throwing Season Magic around the room for no reason.
Man: Ahh! You're a Snowflake, then?
Krow: Yeah.
Man: GREAT! Looks like you made it through! Aha!
He hurls a fireball against the wall behind him, startling you a bit.
Man: I'm Hreklor the Temperate! Jygarl wants an antidote, I guess?
Krow: Yeah, for shortstalk plant. Got any?
Hreklor: Of course! Ahahaha!
He freezes part of the wall behind you before handing you a vial. Touching his sometimes cold, then hot hand causes you to shiver briefly. Return to Jygarl by the same route?

You return along the same wall, taking care to step around the explosive rune. You emerge in the room with Jygarl waiting calmly.
Jygarl: You-- you got it?
Krow: Yeah, here.
You hand him the vial. He quaffs some of the contents before replacing the stopper.
Jygarl: Alright, thanks. That was pretty fast, too. Another settling Snowflake. If you complete the training, we say you've settled; if you... don't, we say you've melted, heh. And trust me, not everyone settles. Well, you passed the training, so we'll let you in. Here, read this-- er-- this is what you have to say at the door-- the southern door. In that first room you were in. With the blindfolds.
He produces a note from nowhere which reads, "The first snow falls." As soon as you've glanced over it, it disappears again. You assume this surprisingly deft little man has hidden it somewhere in his bright robe.
Mission complete!
+100 EXP. You leveled up. Choose another move for your Primary Focus, and split 250 between your stats, and 200 between HP and MP.

You follow his orders and go back to the first room you were in. You find the southern door and put the key in. As you open it, you find a dagger at your throat.
Voice: You-- How's the weather outside?
Oriana: The first snow falls.
Voice: Okay. Come in, First Snow.
Guild Promotion: First Snow. +50 EXP. Usually you get one new skill for each focus, but not for the first one. You also get a "rank gift," which you'll receive shortly, new shop items, better payoffs, and in... four promotions you'll get Specializations.
The door is pushed open the rest of the way to reveal a tall, blonde woman. She leads you into a hall with several doors on each side. She opens the first one on the right and takes you in.
On one wall, there are several weapons: swords, daggers, darts, and crossbows. She crosses the room and sizes you up.
Woman: Hello. I'm Aesryl the Sharp. I make sure all our First Snows get some basic equipment. Think of it as your first rank gift. Here's 500 gold, and choose one of these weapons.
She indicates the iron swords, daggers, darts, and light crossbows on the shelves.
Aesryl: You can buy more at the shop, although you're a little limited due to your rank. What's it gonna be?
a) Sword
b) Dagger
c) Darts
d) Crossbow
Note that you can use pretty much any weapon, this isn't a permanent choice. Just a starter thing.

Aesryl: Dagger? Here.
She flips you a dagger, which you nimbly catch.
Aesryl: Alright, now it's up to you what to do. You might want to do your blood note pretty quick, since we have so many. But no one's gonna hold it against you if you shop around a little, or check out the complex, or just hang out. Probably aren't too many of us around just now what with the overload. Ha, seems the smaller we get the more tension there is, and the more we're required. Okay, I've gotta go guard the door-- and hey! Don't get yourself killed!
With that, she opens the door and leaves, taking her position at the door leading into the antechamber. You figure the rest of the complex is down the hall. You hear a miniscule popping noise and glance downward. You find one perfectly folded, perfectly white piece of paper in your hand. Unfolding it, you read in what appears to be blood: Yldor Four-Finger. Do what?
a) Find out more about Yldor
b) Look for a shop
c) Look for people to ask stuff
d) Check around the complex
