Jayra: Um... okay. Are you sure it wouldn't be better to just cross the river and go on land?

Now that she has an idea in her head, she seems a little more confident.

Jayra: Well... that way we don't have to worry about tying up the boat before they see us, and... it's easier to be, well, stealthy on land... at least for me... but it's up to you...

I suppose so... Lets go on land if you think it will be easier.

You begin to row across the river. It's very broad and very placid, so it takes some time but you make it across easily. When you reach the opposite bank, Jayra drops her paddle, grabs a rope and spike, and jumps out. She then proceeds to drive the spike into the ground and tie up the boat. You get out and help her drag it up onto the shore, but leave the spike in case the tide washes the boat into the river.

Jayra: Alright. Do you know where the camp is? Can you sense it or something? I heard you were a Diviner.

"Yeah, I am. I'll try looking for them." I'll try Reveal I guess, even though it doesn't sound like it would show the path to them or anything like that.

Sheba casts Reveal.

You see a lot more things than before, but none are really conducive to an army. Perhaps in a different spot you could see something. The river runs north-south, by the way.

Eh, I'll go down the river some more. After travelling a few minutes I'll use Reveal again to check for anything, but mostly stuff like footprints or things which could show which way people have been going recently.

You walk downriver for a while and casts Reveal. This time, you can faintly distinguish a glowing figure lying in the grass a good ways ahead. He seems to have a sword with him, possibly a mace. You can't tell if you've been spotted or not, but he is rather a long distance away, perhaps nearly a quarter mile.

Sheba's MP: 90/100

Do what?

Head towards him, trying to keep out of sight. Once I'm close enough I'll try to Mind Read him.

You tell Jayra about the person, and she suggests that you both drop down and crawl through the grass-- it's about a foot high, which should mask most of your movements.

You sneak towards the person for a while, and use Mind Read.

~...so boring... only another twenty minutes... ugh, I get the hot shift... it's so hot out here... at least I'm not in armor all the time like Banyan... or any of the other Squires... or the Spearmen... that'd be even worse... wait, was-- what was that? Eh... probably nothing... a wild animal or something... so boring...~

Wait till his shift is over and he leaves. Then try to follow him while sneaking still.

You lie in wait for about twenty minutes. The man remains flat on the ground but turns around and quickly crawls in the opposite direction. You follow him, but you soon see another person come to take his place. You've covered about half the distance before the other person reaches the point of the first and stops moving.

Sneak towards where the other one was heading. If I lost him I'll use Reveal to try and find his footprints or something like that.

You crawl to within earshot of the new lookout. He glances around a bit at the noise you're making, so you stop.

Jayra (whispering): I... well... I think I'm quieter than you... it's what I do, sort of. If you can think of something for me to do up ahead... I could go and do it, then come back for you or something. But... I think he might hear us... you, at least... if we keep going like this. Maybe... we could go around? But there might be more of them... I don't know... what should we do?

Sheba: Hmm... probably not best to split up... Maybe we could try to go around them or something... hopefully we won't be caught.

Jayra: Yeah... alright.

The two of you crawl to your left and sort of circle around the guy. However, you realize there's another not all that far away, probably less than a quarter mile.

Jayra: I think we could probably go between, if we're careful... but then we'd be within their... lines... and we'd have a tough time escaping quickly... but I guess we have to... we just have to be careful... or I guess we could... maybe... uh, disable one of the lookouts...
Sheba: Well, if we mess up a lookout they'll notice when the shift ends. But if we sneak in between and get caught, that's another person we have to fight on the way out.
Jayra: Hm... ye-yes... what should we do?

Sheba: Umm... I have some skills that could help us be undetected... but I'm not sure a sandstorm coming out of no where would be too useful unless we're trying to escape or something... Lets... umm... try to sneak past them both.

You let Jayra take the lead. She crawls in between the two lookouts, and you follow. Neither lookout stirs, as far as you can tell. You make it through. The grass obscures your vision, but after a while you part it slightly and peek through.

You see a fairly large force ahead. You can only draw the roughest of estimates from this vantage point, and you don't think it would do you any good. You can't see the river from this point of view. There don't seem to be any further lines of lookouts, but you never know. What do you want to do?

You crawl further forward. You come within perhaps fifty yards of the main camp.

Jayra: Couldn't you use that thing you did before to see through the grass?
