Ivory wings flapped in the air, gliding coming to an end as his objective was now under him, the grounds of the Freedom Force II School. It was obvious there had been an incident, but it seemed either the threat had been minimized, only half a wall lay waste and many surfaces scorched, was well as the ground being singed . . . it would never bear grass again, the topsoil would have to be removed and replaced if anything new was to be planted. With only the sparse attendance, both in the number of students and faculty, the winged man had hoped his entry could be overlooked, at least for the time. Fate, in the form of Mr. Seek in a cheap looking black suit, had other plans though, as the winged man's fet gracefully touched against the blackened patch of earth.
"A week!" Mr Seek exclaimed, his voice quite out of character. Seraph had met the suited man several occasions before, and one thing Mr. Seek was infamous for was his even and dreary tone. "You have been gone a week!"
"You are as perceptive as always, my good man, I don't care what my superiors say about that mind of yours . . ." Seraph looked away, his wings folding to his back flat.
Mr. Seek cleared his throat, his static demeanor returning, "Ms. Gainora has been breathing down my neck for days, erupting at me because I couldn't find you . . ."
"You know I can't be found, old man . . ."
"Do you think she would accept that response?" Mr. Seek hissed.
Seraph looked up, it had only been partly cloudy today, the heat caused nice updrafts . . . updrafts that he now cursed for quickening his return trip, "what happened to the girl . . . it was obvious there was incident so don't bore be with details about that, cause i really don't care."
"As I am sure you don't care about the girl . . ."
"Not as much as I care for changing the conversation . . . be a dear, take the hook and just tell me," the winged man looked back, not a hint of a smile on his face as he brushed away a few long bangs, wet with sweat from gliding in the hot sun.
Mr. Seek huffed but went on, "the girl, sadly, met her demise . . ."
"Oh, did she?" Seraph suddenly smirked, a brightness in his crystal blue eyes.
"Yes. She couldn't control her powers . . . in the end the combustion cycle escalated to a point her body could no longer handle-"
"And my superiors took care of clean-up, I take it . . . interesting, I hadn't heard anything about it . . ."
"Not that you cared to look too hard," Mr. Seek accused.
Seraph turned, his face stone-like for a moment as he leaned, making Mr. Seek take a step back, he knew better then to let himself get too close to this faux angel. Suddenly, Seraph's face turned into an innocent smile, his hand moving to pat his company on the shoulder firmly, a touch that made Mr. Seek's blood run cold, as well as the sweat popping through the pores on his forehead, "my good man, I care for all the creatures on God's wonderful earth . . ." then, as if he had suddenly told a joke, he laughed. A deep hearty laugh that gave the suited man goosebumps, the only thing more frightening then being near the winged beast was to see him laugh . . .
The commotion had alerted a new bystander to Seraph's arrival, her voice coarse as she growled out at him, "Seraphim Crimson! How 'dare' you just wander back here and not immediately contact me! Do you have any idea how long you were gone?!" she shrieked.
"Hmm . . . seven days, last I heard . . . felt like longer though," Seraph cooed politely, making the wrinkles in Ms. Gainora's forehead crease.
"Disrespectful! I told you to leave until the incident had passed! Not to go on some vacation!"
Seraph looked up and waves a hand, Mr. Seek relieved the winged man no longer was so close to him. "But I had no idea how long that would be . . . wanted to play it safe . . . you know how these things go, don't you?" he winked, turning and folding his hands behind his head, wings slightly hitched and started to walk away. He didn't see the colors change in Ms. Gainora's face, flushing to bright red, her teeth clenched, but he did hear her walking toward him. She lunged out a winkled hand and pulled on his arm, growling in his face.
"How dare you speak to me like that, you brat!" Seraph merely looked at her, his face even give a faint little smile, "you were sent here to help me, now you better get your act together . . ."
Suddenly Seraph's face moved forward a couple inches, causing Ms. Gainora to lose her face and flinch, his ears turning pink and her thought cut short. Then, in a cool voice the fake angel replied to her, "you still don't get it, do you?" he pulled at his arm, easily taking it out of the woman's grip and starting to move away, leaving the two of them to watch him, "I'm not here to help you . . ." he looked back before dissapearing into the building leading to the faculty dorms, "I'm here . . . to watch you."

"Why the hell would we want to go on some dumb field trip to be infested with insects and stuff... I mean like the freak accident wasn't bad enough, or they trying to make us suffer or what?", Betsy whines as the rest of the student sat silently in the school bus heading to God knows where.
The faculty decided that a field trip would help take their minds off the incident and would also allow the school to be renovated while they are gone.
After 2 hours of sitting in the musky bus with no air condition they finally arrive at the site.
"Ok we are here so get your backpacks and your hiking boots cause we're gonna do some steep uphill hiking."
Everyone seem a bit confuse as to why they are doing this at this time, but decided to go along. The mountain side is deserted with thick moss and shrubs growing all over.
Shane runs pass most of the student to head to the front where Gavin is leading the group as the guide.
"So be honest with me what the hell are we doing here?", questions Shane in curious tone.
Gavin looks at him and a bit confused himself, but tries to show that everything is going according to plans.
"Everyone needed some fresh air and staying coup up in that facility hall isnt going to help anyone... plus we need to just get away for a bit to forget about what has been going on for the last week," Gavin anwsers honestly.
Kenneth is the first to notice a strange pink aura around Betsy and it made him jump for a second.
"Betsy!??", he questions her.
"Relax it's something i pick up a few days ago... I am able to create a time statis like shield that wraps around my body slowing anything that comes approximatly 1 inch from my body", Betsy retorted.
"And why are you doing that now Betsy?", Katlin wonders.
"Like no duh... to keep insects off my bare legs", replies Betsy while rolling her eyes.
Meanwhile back at the school, Fiona discovered something that she regretted learning.
"The technology that has been suppressing my telepathy from wandering must have been down from the explosion... I can't believe the dreadful secret this school has kept from us... I must warn the others, but first I must make my escape tonight" Fi whispers to herself.

Moments beforehand, Fiona had been left to her room, the whole ordeal had taken too much out of her, and although the air may have done her some good, Ms. Gainora was strict in having her stay behind to 'recover.' With no one else in the school, however, the buildings seemed eerily calm, and it had been hours since she had seen either Ms. Gainora or Mr. Seek. Gavin had gone on with the others on the field trip, and Fiona had no idea where Seraph was . . . she had always sort of cheated with her powers, reading at least who was around, but she still could not penetrate Seraph's mind . . . the fact that he was immune to her a little off-putting.
Finally, bordem got the best of her, as she reached for her small laptop, pressing the power button and relaxing slightly on her bed as the machines inside hummed and whirled, the start-up screen of her OS booting up. Suddenly, her background and icons showed up, but an error message flickered on the screen . . . her network connection to the school's wireless wasn't reading . . . strange.
Fiona grunted to herself, softly, and contemplated just forgetting about it, only after a long minute realizing that she really didn't have any other options at the moment, so, standing up from her bedrest, sought off to Ms. Gainora's office. Her socks felt cool on the tiled floor, reaching the large door of the school's controller . . . she already could tell Ms. Gainora wasn't in there. Although her principal wore a block, she could still read 'of' her, just everything she tried to pull from Ms. Gainora, or Mr. Seek's for that matter, was terribly jumbled, like those higher channels on the cable box . . .
She knocked anyway, and called softly, "Mr. Gainora? I think the connection went down . . ." and knocked again, before gently trying the knob. It was unlocked, and opened without as much as a creak. letting Fiona have access to the main office of the school. She wandered in, aimlessly, although she already knew she wanted to get to the computer and try and reset the network figurations . . .
She wandered to Ms. Gainora's desk, the screensaver quaint and basic, just the little pixel stars racing across the screen, a sort of badly animated loop mimicing travelling through space. She gently let her hand graze the mouse, and the stars dissapeared, leading a new screen, promting immediately for a password, making Fiona frown. She wouldn't be able to get onto the network as long as Ms. Gainora's computer was locked.
She brushed her fingers down across the keyboard, and suddenly yelped, as a spark of static electricity jumped from the keys to her digits, shocking her. She pulled back her hand and whimpered, shaking his hand out, the shock had left her slightly numb . . . that starnge tingling like it had fallen asleep. A series of beeps caught her attention and her head jerked up, eyes wide as the screen befor eher flickered, flickered again and then broke down, exiting to Ms. Gainora's main screen, filled with icons and her simple blue background, default . . . but why had it done that?
"Maybe there is no password . . . I must of just pressed enter . . ." Fiona rationalized . . . it made sense . . . .
Fiona didn't bring her hands down to the keyboard for a long moment, considering just forgetting the faulty network connection and trying to find something else to do, but after the moment passed, as if she had no control over her own movements, her fingers moved down, and started to dance across the keys, opening windows and setting the name of Ms. Gainora's wireless back to default . . . surely when she got back to her room now her computer could connect to the net, and save her from her bordem . . . although, truth be told, she was not that bored anymore.
She sighed, and shook her head, she didn't know why she had been so jumpy before, it must just be the fact she's potentially alone in this large complex . . . that would make anyone nervous, wouldn't it? She moved her fingers to close the network window, and gasped, loudly, her fingers more numb then before, almost painful as her body began to tremble . . . her mind started racing . . . it was like the first time she had read someone's mind . . . but it was different . . . more painful . . . less humanity . . .
She could see series of flashes, blinks meaningless series of numbers and letters . . . and then, words, first meaningless again . . . then they started to fomr sentences, sentences forming paragraphs . . . and paragraphs forming a story . . . a story she didn't know before . . .
"Oh my god . . ." Fiona gasped and yanked back her fingers, overcome with dizzyness as she nearly toppled over, having to seat herself back in Ms. Gainora's chair to steady herself, her heart pounding and her head hammering out against her skull. Those images . . . those paragraphs, were still in her head, and she could read every word.
Freedom Force I . . . a government funded facility to train known mutants specifically for combat . . . the first school was in fact a barracks . . . one who trained its students specifically for combat . . . and now Freedom Force II . . . a covert facility . . . meaning to capture and brainwash mutants! They were being tricked!
"I . . . I must warn the others . . ." Fiona started, realizing she was still sitting in Ms. Gainora's chair, panting, "I- I must get out of here!"

Vincent trailed a little bit behind the rest of the students. Seeming to be more relaxed now that he was out in the open countryside, then in the confines of the academy grounds. He was careful to keep track of the rest of the group but seemed off in his own world more then anything.
It was a bit startling to him when he felt someone grab onto his shoulder, He was quickly jerked back into reality and looked over to see that Kenneth had apparently fallen back a bit to talk with him. For a moment he didn’t say anything and just walked along side him quietly, a few moments later he spoke up.
“Are you okay?” Kenneth inquired.
“Yeah I’m fine why do you ask.” Vincent replied in turn
“Well, I heard about the argument you and Shane had the other day.” Kenneth responded with genuine concern.
“Yes I did lash out a bit, but look I’ve got some problems to deal with and I’d rather not talk to anyone about them, not yet anyway. I know I keep to myself a lot and that anti-social seems a bit of an understatement when my personality is concerned. For now just give me some space okay? I’m not really used to dealing with people, especially those about my age.” Vincent said quitely.
“ Are you sure that you’re okay? I-“ Kenneth started.
“Yes, I’m sure, I don’t mean to be rude but really I don’t need your help at the moment.” Vincent interrupted, while trying to keep an even tone in his voice. He then sighed and began to speak again this time he sounded generally happy, almost content. “You know I’m really grateful for this little day trip. The clear skies overhead, the unsettled wilderness it reminds me of home…” As he spoke the relaxed expression returned to him the distant look had returned to his eyes as he trailed off again.
As they walked on Vincent was rather grateful that Kenneth had left him to his own thoughts, and while he would never openly admit it it did feel good to talk to someone for a change.

He sat there, winged curled slightly forward like a warm blanket, he had forgotten the time, and had disregarded how long he had been sitting there, his face a stonewall and silent as he looked forward while on the cold, unfeeling metal floor, always kept sanitary, while before him, his angel rested . . .
'So we're agreed then? After the incident with the combustion mutant, keeping them so far from us while their powers are fluxing is too risky. We already lost one powerful soldier, it would be unwise to risk losing them all . . .'
His eyes, so pure and blue, couldn't pull away from his angel, sitting so calm, not like a corpse in a grave . . . but more like a maiden sleeping eternally . . . to wax the old fairy tales she had liked when young, she truly was just a poor maiden waiting for the kiss of her true love to wake her up. But he was no prince, he had no magic powers that could break the curse she was forced to endure . . .
'Yes, of course we understand that. but if we try to take them by force, there could be casualties, of them or us. We cannot just collect them up and force them to come . . .'
A shiver ran up his spine, but he was used to them by now, his body remained still, even as his wings gave a gentle flap, brushing what few particals of dust were on the floor, before they folded over his shoulders and draped against his cool skin . . . just how long had he been sitting here?
'Fool! Among them only a mere handful are important to our plans, the others are disposible if it should come to that! We will send three of our Graduates . . . three soldiers to collect three specimens . . . as they are still untrained, it should be simple . . .
"Seraphim Crimson. Seraphim Crimson. Your presence is requested in the 'Principal's Office.' Your presence is requested in the 'Principal's Office.'"
~
"Bah! What do you want from me now?" Seraph growled softly as he walked into the large command room, dubbed the 'Principal's Office' . . . truly, the whole idea of codenaming the facility as a school was rather silly.
"Watch your tongue when you speak to-!" one solider started angrily, as one, obviously the one in charge, raised his hand. He was quite used to Seraph's attitude by now, and knew he had power over the mutant if he should ever turn rogue . . . but then, he also understood Seraph wasn't stupid. As long as they both needed something from each other, all was serene.
"Seraphim Crimson-"
"I told you not to call me that!"
"We have need of you-"
"Don't you always?"
"The specs of the mission-"
"As if I had a choice to accept?"
"So-" the commander started, folding his hands in front of him, leaning forward, "there is no question of what is to be done?"
"There never was. The only thing I need to know is which ones you want collected."
The commander smirked, he couldn't help it, Seraph was a jerk, but he was the perfect soldier, knew his place so well any other formality was just a waste of both of their's time. "I would prefer if you could collect all of them . . ."
"Greed is sin," Seraph said, curtly.
"Spoken from one who knows sin well?" the commander questions, moving three pictures forward. On the bottom were three names, 'Fiona', 'Betsy', 'Kenneth'. "I trust you know your targets?"
"I know them well enough."
"I have prepared two Graduates-"
"I don't need help-"
"You don't have a choice in the matter, Seraphim. Dismissed."
Seraph frowned, but turned, and walked away. He didn't like working with others, even the facility's precious 'Graduates.' But, as the commander had reminded him, he did not have a choice in the matter . . .

"Guys did you just get that?", Betsy whispers to Katlin, kenneth and Shane while the others kept walking forward toward their bus.
"Shhh... yes it was Fiona's distress signal... either she's in trouble or she's not telling much cause she's masking her motive...", replied Kenneth.
Katlin looks nervously back and forth toward the group and to Gavin.
"She wants us to escape... I don't know what to do... should we tell Gavin since he is our superior that something isn't right?", questions Katlin timidly.
"NOoooo.", replied the others.
"Lets just keep this between us four at the moment... I don't trust that kid
Vincent... for all we know he could be a spy..." Shane continues to stare at Gavin and Vincent who are walking in front of the group a short distant from them, but far enough for them to not hear the group whispering.
"Guys we will try to make a get away before we make it back to the bus... but
we need to think of something fast before Gavin becomes suspicious of us."
They stare at one another speechless.
"I have a plan." Betsy said with a smile on her face as the rest stares at her wondering what is going inside her head chock full of silver hair.
