What do you all think about this Right to Die case in Florida?

For those of you who don't know, there is currently a big arguement in Florida about whether or not this woman's husband can have her feeding tube removed, thus starving her to death. The woman is a vegetable, as in she is unable to move or speak, but she does look around the room and blink, and recognizes when someone is in the room. The husband wants to let her die because it is believed she will never recover. The woman's parents however, do not want the woman to die. The parents and the husband have been in court arguing over her.

The other day the husband won a ruling in court saying that the feeding tube can be removed, thus starving her to death.

And then yesterday the Florda state congress gave Gov. Jeb Bush the right to intervein, which he did.

The woman is now back on her feeding tube but the husband who is the woman's legal guardian and controls who can visit her and who can't, has barred the family from seeing her.

So what do you all think about this? I think it's complete bull****. Even if noone wanted her to live, you can't just starve someone to death! Thats just like murdering someone.

Btw, here's a link to an article about it: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=s ... e_woman_95

Wouldn't be an issue if euthinasia were legal.

^Yea, but it's not so you have to abide by the law. Iraq wouldn't be a problem either if WMD's were legal.

Iraq wouldn't be a problem if Bush wasn't a pretentious hypocrite.

But to keep this topic on track, I think that, with respect to ethics, the husband was perfectly within his rights--except for the method he attempted to induce. Starving her to death is simply inhumane, no matter what the species or condition. Otherwise, given the circumstances, I think it would be appropriate to administer something painless such as lethal injection if he wished to do so.

Oh yes L47, it makes much more sense in every aspect to let someone die by starving to death when they could die peacefully and without suffering through injections. So its illegal to humanely end someone's life, but legal to make someone suffer for weeks on end? Yeah, that makes sense...well, more sense than your Iraq analogy since there seems to be no WMDs in Iraq.
