What do you want to learn or improve at this year?

Do you have plans to do any learning? Or improve upon a skill you already have?

Of course, I'm still learning languages... and I'd like to improve some of my clutches in MC. :rotfl:

...not highfalutin college learning.

^I also want to learn more languages. Of course you can't learn every language, but that's no excuse not to try! It's just hip and swell to have extra languages in your back-pocket.

If I'd been smart, maybe I'd have taken on some Spanish back in the day, instead of four years of Latin. I had fun in Latin, but it was a real dumb idea (or like maybe it wasn't, who cares). Whatever. I meet a heck of a lot more Spanish-speakers than Latin-speakers.

Ooh, mama. I'm almost fluent in German, and that's...really, really not a good thing, if I feel like a vacation in eastern Europe. Uff da. And like maybe my barely passable conversational Russian would be more a liability in that same context, these days.

People like English-speakers, right?

I want to start learning the banjo.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I'm all for learning a little from a lot of languages. When I travelled Europe, I learnt to say 'thank you' in 9 languages and 'good morning' in 4 languages, and every person was seriously nice that I said the few things I tried. I will happily try more languages once I'm able to hold a 45 minute conversation without sounding like a 3 year old. Next on my list is Finnish and then Italian. Maybe not in that order. ;)

I'll probably need to improve my knowledge of 1D/2D hydraulic modeling. It's more complicated than what I'm used to, but it gives more detailed results and we're switching everything over to those models in the next couple of years. I have had some training, but haven't done a ton of hands-on modeling using that approach.

I would like to add a few recipes to my culinary repertoire. Maybe let my kid help me more often, as she enjoys it and seems proud to have made something tasty.
