a good percentage of yankee fans are the "OMG teh yanks are winning they are so cool" type.
Actually it seems that just about everyone hates them cause they win so much. There is very likely a small amount of people in that category.

It depends with baseball. If it's a close game involving at least one team that you really like, then it's one of the most intense, edge-of-your-seat experiences. But if it's between two teams you don't care about or the game is clearly one-sided, baseball loses its luster. Take this year's World Series, for instance: it's the team everyone hates vs. the team no one cares about... it's simply uninteresting to me. That, and the prospect of having a Cubs vs. Red Sox series makes this outcome a sheer let-down.

As for playing... that's a different story. I find baseball to be one of the most boring sports to play.
