Any of you guys ever done one of those weird restaurant challenges? I assume you're familiar-------------they bring you out something obscenely horrible, like a 57-oz steak or a bucket of 3-million Scoville chili, and then give you a set amount of time to polish it off, and if you manage it, they comp your meal and you go up on their 'this person is going to die young' wall of fame.
I never thought I would try one of those things, myself (I find them decadent and deplorable), except the burger shop down the street has a mild one going (a triple-decker spicy fried chicken sandwich with patties rated 'tennessee fire', 'actual lava' and 'god help me'), and I didn't care much whether I lived or died this afternoon, so I tried it on. It wasn't bad. I'll probably never do it again (that one patty singed my eyebrows, man-----------expect I'll be obliterating my toilet in the near future), but at least I got free lunch out of it. Or free-ish, anyway----------I bought a second beer, and then I heavily over-tipped my waitress to try and make up for eating them out of house and home.

Re: Wacky Restaurant Challenges
Oof, hope you're feeling alright.
I've never done anything where they offer you the food free if you finish, or honor you in any way for it. I've ordered the 'suicide wings' at one place which was the hottest thing I'd eaten to that point. First spicy thing that made me go, "just because I can doesn't mean I should." The hottest thing I've ever eaten was the Paqui One Chip Challenge from 2021. It's the only thing I've ever had that was so spicy my teeth hurt.
I did get together with my siblings, my Brother-In-Law, and his brother at an IHOP while you could order unlimited pancakes and we had a contest to see who could eat the most. I won with a little over 11 pancakes. I was so full from that that it seems incomprehensible how someone like Matt Stonie had the capacity to eat the way he can.

Re: Wacky Restaurant Challenges
I've never tried anything like this, but I watched a group of guys eat a very hot chilli dish at a restaurant we all went to. Never seen so many people all sweating from eating at the same time!!
Hope you're feeling fine, Boo!!

Well, I haven't been sick, but...I mean, not to over-share, but peeing has been a burning nightmare for the past eighteen hours. I expect I'll have a real 'Ring of Fire' scenario going on the next time I sit down.

I've thought about doing one sometime, but I haven't yet.

Those are some intimidating names for the heat ratings.
Hm, I don't recall noticing anything like that at restaurants around here, but it's not really up my alley anyway.

I don't actually remember what the last patty was called-----------'god help me' seemed apt. Probably it was something like that, or 'oh no no noooo', or 'The Doom That Came to Sarnath', or 'Powers Boothe screaming "YOU'RE GONNA DIE HERE!" in that one episode of Deadwood'.
