One guy said this.
"I'm okay with sprite comics. I made them myself, you know, and one of my favorite webcomics is still 8-bit Theater. Problem here is, the site design is just...horrid by today's standards. I can't even bother to read the comic itself [though I have partaken in it before] because I'm so turned off by that site design. Seriously, there's absolutely no reason for him to have such a bad-looking site in this day and age.
Make a sprite comic. That's just fine and dandy. Heck, your sprite comic could be a hilarious one.
But the site design is a key to making it look better. Most people would never go to some of these sites if they don't look good, no matter how good the webcomic is. F@nb0y$ wouldn't be popular if it had a horrible site design, for example. Same with VG Cats and the other common "good" webcomics.
Yes, I'm a Web Design major. I just hate when people do this. >_>"

Yeah, I'm one of those guys from the forum Msn's posted NC to.
Really, I don't care if it's funny. I don't care if it has the best story in the world. The fact of the matter is, the website looks worse than the artwork on The Wotch, and that's really saying something. I'm not going to blind myself just to read this comic.

Technically NC is extremely elderly by anyone's standards; if it expects to capture a new audience it'll have to be upgraded.
I just don't think anyone will be interested enough to finish such a project, so it shall probably stay as it is unless Jay gets lots o' time...

I'd probably hate the site design of NC too if it wasn't my site.
And yet...I still don't really care what "web design majors" think.
Personally, I don't think the site design is too bad considering I just threw the whole thing together using hand coded HTML and without much experience, and considering that I have better things to do with my time.
But I would probably agree with the critics anyway. NC isn't a "professional web site", and it was never meant to be one.
If anyone has suggestions or offerings to help improve the design, my ears are always open.
