Those people probably use Geocities or some other site that will only download Gifs and Jpegs, but most message boards don't let you post those, so they save the file as a txt instead. Why? Well, I think Jay's right in this case.

"TXT Images" are something that is good for everyone. It doesn't screw up the bandwidth in the host servers, and it allows us to use images off of their servers. And you save the image as .txt by uploading it and renaming it along with the file extension .txt. like when you rename something, rename it "image.txt" and then link to it. and that's it. It is not only for meeage boards by the wya, it is for anywhere off the server. like, having an image hosted on geocities by angelfire or whatever.
