Can/Should/How/Ect - The NC Chatroom

#1

Post by imported_Jonathan Resop » Wed May 21, 2003 4:51 pm

Well, it would be nice to get the NC Chatroom back up and running, since it was a lot of fun while we had it. And I think all of the little problems that caused the old one to go away have been forgotten/forgiven. So should the NC Chatroom come back? And since I know most of you will say yes, the more important question is how should it come back? I'm still pretty bad at setting up chatrooms. But it would be nice to get either a mIRC chatroom, a Java chatroom, or both. So what kind of features would you like to see in the new chatroom? And does anyone know anything about it to help me set it up? Thanks.-jay

Well, if you set up an IRC chat, you can join using a java client or mIRC. I can make a tutorial for mIRC if you want me to, Jay. I can also register a channel and give access to anyone you want me to. I can't make a java applet, because I don't really know much about that.

Oh, and since I'm a l33t IRC scripter, I can create a bot for the chat, but maybe not, because people seem to like to ABUSE things.

Dude! Kamek made a room a while back, and I made a java chat! It was ignored, and Jay didn't even update the site with it, and he knew it about it.

Right, Jay?

However, I think Austnet is broken or something now.

If I recall, the reason I took down the first chat was because there were problems involving people acting stupid/jerkish and the overall sense that people wern't being nice.-jay

Chatroom 1: Too many spammers, services screwing up, not that great. Had it's own Java Applet.

Chatroom 2: Poor server, bot that generally sat around and did actions to the chat that POed the new founders (me and Kamek). Had it's own Java applet.

Chatroom 3: Alright server, a bot that was useful (and one that wasn't.), and was once something to be proud of. Sunk when everybody failed to take notice of it. Had a Java applet, but was barely linked to.
