So, who here has had the pleasure of playing this amazing game?

I REALLY wanted to play it. From what I heard it makes every single Mana game want to cry. -CSM

Isn't it the one that had the bloke change to a Werewolf at night. If so then I think I have. Didn't get very far.

Yes, SD3 makes Secret of Mana look like Superman 64.

I believe you, ML, know very well that I've been playing this game.
AND IT RAWWKSSS.
Unfortunately, I have no angelic whatchamacallits, and keep dying on the first boss. How lame. :/
Regardless, it is INSANELY fun.
EDIT: oh, just kidding. I just beat Mr. Evil Crab right now!!

I don't agree. The battle engine in SoM was much more solid, imo. SD3 was cool, but SoM had a lot more originality involved in its style and gameplay.

SoM's battle controls felt more responsive. =\

I can honestly say I only got halfway through SoM before losing interest, because I was expecting a game like SD3, which I played first, and then didn't get what I wanted. I really should play the game again with an open mind, since that was a while ago, but I still think SD3 is an infinitely better game.
And admit it, SD3's storyline is made of pure awesome.

I felt that the storyline was more impersonal, concerning the characters. I don't know that it's better for it. Similarly, I was disappointed that SD3 wasn't more like SoM. I would have played all the way through it, but my video card (with S-video out, and the setup I used to play on tv screen) decided to fry itself. I'm buying ATI from now on, thx very much. I'd love it if Matrox or 3DFX were still around, though..

Impersonal? Really? I always get really involved with my main character's plotline. And then the different flavors that can be added to the story by the 3 characters that you choose, not to mention differing gameplay...I love it.

Well...yeah.
But to be fair, Kevin's story does get a lot more involved later in the game. I'll agree though, Kevin and Carlie probably have the weakest overall plot, mostly because the Death Jester is such a ****ty villain.

I liked Carl a lot. Especially his woon sound. I don't think it's a bad game, I just don't think praising it requires dissing other games I like. Carlie was not very much win, I agree.

Eh, fair enough. I'm kind of in an RPG kick right now, so I'll probably try to play through SoM again. Who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it a little this time.
But still, SD3 to me in only one step below Chrono Trigger, and that's only because there's a lot less Time Travel and a lot less Frog. And no Lavos.

Protip: Multiplayer games are fun when you're not playing them by yourself.

If only I had a real SNES cart and someone willing.
But damn, I'd love to play SD3 multiplayer. That'd rock. So hard.

We could try to hookup with ZSNES online sometime, if you're that interested.

I played it. But I at first thought that the most popular party was Duran, Angela, and Hawkeye, so being the nonconformist I am I chose Keven, Carlie, and Lise. (I had Kevin be a death-hand or whatever it is, Carlie as her light-light class and Lise as a Fenrir knight) So of course I got the Dark Lich as the last boss and apparently he's the easiest. (Well the Archdemon actually has two forms instead of just pallete-swapping and changing attack-styles)

I'd definitely be willing to, but it'd have to be over the summer. Unless you want to break the playthrough down to every other weekend or so.
Write that down or something, because I'd definitely go for it. Both games, even.

I hate having Kevin as my primary, because the first time around, the Beast Kingdom is absolute hell. I really prefer doing Navarre or...uh...the other one.

NOT UNTIL YOU PLAY TOS, BLAST IT.
Anyway, I like Kevin a lot... especially at night, for obvious reasons.
So me, being a noob, decided to choose Angela as my primary and Carlie as my secondary. 0_o
Yeah... that giant crab was kinda hard.
Anyway, the game is a lot of fun so far. I am thoroughly enjoying its awezomes.
