Even with E3 around the corner, a few Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles details have managed to slip out. The upcoming GameCube title will apparently be a bit of a departure from the Final Fantasy tradition.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles will not contain a few of the notable traditional aspects of the Final Fantasy series, specifically summons, which have been a part of the series for years, and CG movie sequences, which appeared in the more recent Final Fantasy titles. FF: CC will be "mission-based," and it will be shorter than Final Fantasy titles usually are, with game play time reaching around 30 hours. Fans of Nobuo Uematsu may be disappointed to learn that Kumi Tanioka, the composer for Final Fantasy XI, will work on the music for FF: CC as well.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles will be released in Japan on July 18, and it make its way to North American stores later this year. The title will also be featured at E3, so be sure to check out RPGamer's E3 coverage.
