Yes, FFVII is overhyped. But it's still a very good game- at least compared to the stuff that came out around the same time.

Also, there's a general consensus that someone with at least a little more character development than Vincent should have been used for any sequel games, but oh well. There's also a lot of 'there shouldn't have been a sequel game' or 'there shouldn't have been a movie', but since none of us has a time machine and a shotgun, oh well.

So, it's kind of a roundabout way of sayin' it, but all CSM's really tryin' ta say is:

HE!

HATES!

FANBOYISM!

And that's all he really means. Oh, and if you ever find yourself in a bad situation, where all the doubts and fears of your pitiful, meaningless existence threaten to crowd down around you, you can always remember that somewhere out there in this crazy old mixed up world, there's still a little place.

Like I said, I have no problem with intelligent FFVII fans. MM, I know you and you're not the kind of person who'll kick you off a forum for dissing Sephiroth. -CSM

I'd say something since I did create the topic, but this topic has gotten too big for me and my mild dyslexia to keep track of, and anything I wanted to say has probably already been said.

Well, that'd be pretty hard right now because I'm on the other side of the country for the rest of the month and I only brought my PS2, DS, and ten games between the two with.

Suppose you could Emulate it, Codie? (That is, if you have a Laptop and aren't resigned to using College/Public computers.)

Hey, someone saw my point. Nearly everyone here was being ridiculously verbose.

If I wanted to emulate it, I would have emulated it to begin with instead of buying the cartridge.

Codiekitty wrote:Having just finished this game, I thought I'd lay down some random thoughts I had, though there isn't much to say that hasn't already been said.

I think the problem with FF7 isn't so much the game as the fanbase that calls it God's gift to gaming (whereas Shadow of the Colossus had its problems both in being extremely lame, and the fanbase calling it God's gift to the world). Now, some parts were bloody tedious - running up at least sixty flights of stairs in the Shinra building, that motorcycle minigame where I couldn't seem to hit anything, the snowboard minigame with the crap controls, the presentation for Rufus' arrival at the city with the giant canon, sitting through attacks like the Bahamut ZERO summon (at least something was happening during Kights of the Round, and the colors were pretty) or Sephiroth's Supernova spell, etc. But when it knocked off that minigame crap and delivered solid RPG gameplay it was actually quite decent.

Why couldn't they have made the spinoff game about Cid instead of Vincent? I personally don't know what to think of Vincent. At first his attitude towards everything was "Meh, whatever", but he got a little better after I found Lucretia's Cave, and there is the problem that since he was optional much of his dialogue isn't followed on, like what he says to Hojo before the fight with him. Cid on the other hand was a swirling ball of color. He was like a little kid in a compulsive swearing old man's body, like when he wanted to ride the Chocobo at the race and the way he's mesmerized and fascinated by outer space when you're in the Shinra rocket's escape pod. I guess Vincent has more story reason to have his own game, as well as popularity with the fans.

And Sephiroth is Kefka lite.

I'd say Cid was opened up good enough in FF7. Don't forget he was the replacement leader when Cloud went missing. The true spinoff should've been about Zack, or at least the events leading up to his downfall by Cloud.

For your information, there is a spin-off about Zack and the Turks before the 'incident'.

You talking about the Anime, that actually makes Sephiroth look male?

...yeah, when they added all this backstory after Advent Children, that's when it started getting confusing.

Congratulations, you know the title to a video game. One of those little life skills that may come in handy.

Though it didn't come in handy here.
