I just got past the opera scene. I think the new "vocals" were actually better then the original. They also still kept in the "I'm a former general not some opera floozy!" line for those who were afraid that Square would take out all the Woosly lines.
Personally I like most of the re-translation better then the original version. It's actually closer to the original Japanese version then the old American version was. Changing the names of items and magic to fit more with the rest of the series and such.
Just one question who does the esper Cait Sith replace from the original?

....It's in no way connected to anime save that Shadow and Cyan's weapons now have their original names, which only make sense because they are a ninja and a samurai, respectively. So yeah, they're not even anime-ish in THAT way. Where the hell does that come from?

I would think you would want something as close to the original source as possible. Think of your favorite movie or show and if it was re-translated. Don't you think it would be better if it was as close to the orignal script as possible?

[QUOTE=ChuckleHuck]Then why did you protest my opinion in the first place?

Good God, I can't tell if you're dual spammers or not, but cut it the hell out, this is actually about FF6. Playing off of each other is no excuse to act stupid.
You can't "fell" life. That would imply you kill it. Ass.
And I would assume you would want somethign as close to the original experience as possible because I still view video games as something of a literary or at least artistic medium and the experience originally intended by the writers is the one I want to have. This is the truest version of FF6 released in the states so far, and then they added to it.
As to adding dialogue: they did, when they took out a few of Woolsey's stupid one-liners.

Well, the only things I do read/watch that were translated out of foreign languages are Tintin and foreign film, and I honestly want something that entertains, not something close to the original. In Tintin's case, it needs to have humor as well. If I find a translation accurate but not entertaining, it's a bad translation. -CSM
