wasn't this a fabulously well made game? i loved the characters, the simple but great plot and the superb hand drawn battle sequences! just goes to show 2d gaming will never die! :)

"Just goes to show 2-D gaming will never die!"

Even though, um, this game was made in the 90's, and there's probably less than half a dozen 2-D games coming out year?

However, I agree with your point, it is a really good game. I liked Shining Force (1) Better, though.

Aside from how utterly broken Healing is in the game, I liked Shining Force 2 a lot more than I did the first game. Had some better character balance so your hero and a bunch of centaurs didn't pwn their way through the game while the healers and mages lagged behind since they ran out of MP so quickly (or weren't needed)

^ Yeah, in the first game, your healers and mages were OHKO'd, and that always pissed me off. The Centaurs were crazy powerful, and the Hero could be if you handled him correctly.

But, still, the first one has a certain charm that the second didn't. I never made it too far, though.

Aside from Gort, Zylo, and Guntz, the centaurs were just tanks who plowed through everything in their path.

Although in the remake (Which I personally enjoyed way more than the original, ask Codie) they fixed the balance a little, although Zukia and Narsha were pretty dang overpowered. Mawlock was just ridiculous though - There was a huge difference betwen him pwning almost everything on the field and a harder game if you chose not to use him.

Oh, how could I ever forget about Zylo, my favorite character?

I mean, every opponent except bosses did 0 damage, and he just ripped though everything. He was probably the greatest character in the game.

BACK ON TOPIC....

But yes, Shining Force II was and remains among the game greats- this *is* about the Genesis SFII and not the Game Gear Shining Force II Sword Of Hayja, right?

Ahhhh, good old funtimes. Still go back and play it now and again.

Small note: I have had Karna as high-level as 40-promote-50 (effective 90) before. Can you guess how?
