So I have this game.

If you like Final Fantasy Tactics, you'll definitely enjoy the game.

Now, aside from the cutscenes, here's the major changes I've seen so far:

-There is an additional battle in between the first battle of Lional Castle and Queklain (I forgot how to spell his translated name). You have to play as Delita and destroy a bunch of pathetic enemies while defending Ovelia.
-It takes level 5 monk to become a Samurai (If I recall, it was level 4 in the original)
-The "Zodiac Stones" are called "Auracite", perhaps to give some more connection to the "Nethecite" in Final Fantasy XII.
-The Fell Knight class has been added. It requires complete mastery of the Black Mage and Knight Class as well as a lot of other hefty requirements. (Chances are it's not really worth it)
-There is also the Onion Knight class. This is how they work: They cannot use abilities, only attack, and only when you master more classes will they deal more damage. (Not worth it unless you master a lot of classes)
-There is notable lag. Most of it's during cure magic, Gafgarion's abilities, and Agrais's sword moves.
-Names have been changed to give it a little more of a "Final Fantasy XII"-esque atmosphere.
-And Balthier and Luso have been added, but they're in Chapter 4 and I'm only in the beginning of 3.

Just picked it up. I absolutely love the new FMVs, and the voice acting - I think it's very well done so far. Aesthetically, it's beautiful, more vibrant and rich than before. There is a VERY noticeable lag, for many attacks and with the sound, however, it hasn't really distracted me so much that I'm really bothered by it. Of course, I haven't gotten very far yet (I have had a limited amount of time to play it), so we'll see.

There are also some more battles added:

-Another one where Delita has to protect Ovelia

-One inside Limberry Castle where Algus returns as a Death Knight. And - You guessed it - You get to beat him up again.

-After Meliadoul joins, you go to Dorter Trade City and meet Celtinne (Kletian). You fight him there.

-After you beat Murond/Mullonde, go to Lionel Castle with Reis and Beowulf in your party. You get some character development with the two and get to fight some battles with some good stuff to steal. One of them is a boss who, to me, was a punching bag but he has to have at least 3000 HP.

-You have to listen to a rumour after clearing Igros and then go to the Thieves Fort. You get another battle with Agrais as a guest.

-There are also two events if you have Agrais and her two girls in your party in chapter 4. If you have at least 500,000 gil and enter a city in Cancer 1, you get lipstick, which is a very good accessory for women. If you go to that Imperial city (whatever), you see one where
Spoiler.
Agrais gives Ovelia a knife...a knife that, if you remember, plays a key role in the ending.
(That's for the one person who hasn't beaten it. ;p )

^Yay for Reis/Beowulf interaction. I always liked them as characters.

Enter ANY city in Cancer 1 during chapter four for the lipstick? I'll remember that. Have a ways to go, but I'll file it away for future use.

The spoiler gave me goosebumps. Oh, foreshadowing.

Phil LaMarr is one of my favorite VAs. His range is admirable.

Why is knocking women out by punching them in the stomach such a commonly used device in Japanese games?

Who's ol' Hermes play in this one?

(Oh, okay. He plays Ramza. They need to get him to play Cecil in the FFIV remake). -CSM

Because hitting them on the head? That is sooo "Tintin".

Phil LaMarr is a great voice actor. But it feels like he's in a lot of things that resonate essence of badass. Like Samurai Jack.

I agree with all of you about Phil LaMarr. I was surprised when they announced he was Ramza but he brings something so intrinsically true to the character... just wow.

I would respond to this but I'm not sure the first half of your post qualifies as a sentence.

I approve of all the good things they've done to this new version of the classic Final Fantasy Tactics. Now I feel like I want to dip 300+ hours in it again... I wonder if the trick for powerleveling stats is still there... or even the one for duplicating weapons...

At least not recurring female characters other than Castafiore and Irma. (Eg Comic Relief)

^I think we need to make a Tintin topic. I want to continue this discussion, but this isn't the place.

Back on topic: did they get Balthier's original voice actor to come back?

Also, I hope they got DiMaggio to do Orlandu. -CSM
