Up and coming RPGs

#1

Post by Valentine » Thu Mar 23, 2006 9:54 am

There's a bunch of new RPG's on the way this year and a lot of them look great, which ones are you looking forward to the most?

For me there's a few, including Grandia III if it gets released at all in Europe. I still have G II and although the plot is pretty dodgy and has very linear dungeons, I love the characters and the battle system is second to none. Incidently, G III hasn't received great reviews, but the fact that the bad points of it are exactly the same as the bad parts of G II, I think it'll still be awesome.

I'm also looking forward to PSO Universe, although that's a while away at the moment. PSO was groundbreaking in its time and although it doesn't stand up well against MMORPGs these days, I have many, many fond memories of it.

Mother 3, duh.

I really need to try out the Grandia series. How is it? Is the gameplay good? Or is it an interactive movie-fest? I'd like to start playing it. -CSM

I know that the first hour of Grandia 1 is a boatload of talking.

Hmmm.... I don't think I like RPGs with mostly talking, especially if you can hear said talking. -CSM

Seiken Densetsu IV has been on Famitsu's "Most Wanted" list for quite some time. I'd like to see it released, hopefully here.

I'm getting FFXII probably a month after it comes out. I'll probably also get FFVIA if it looks like it has improvements over the original, also, I want to show Square my support for my favorite game next to Chrono Trigger, and hopefully get them do either give us something new or give us a good FFVI spinnoff. -CSM

FFXII is looking better than expected, shame my PS2 is borked. It's as if wires fuse together when I touch them, technology breaks in my hands.
