On a similer note one of the first sheilds you can use in Lunar Silver Star Story is a trash can lid.

A few of them actually can be used as real weapons and were. I think Claws and darts were used by historical ninjas and scythes were used by Polish people. (Eg Polish War Scythe)

I'm not saying that all the ones I listed were fake , I'm just saying that some of them wouldn't excactly be user friendly as weapons the scyth comes to mind granted the war scythe exists it was altered alot from it's orignal design so it could could be used for combat as opposed to for lack of a better term farmwork.

Claws were some-what rare though not unheard of. As for the hand thrown darts they fell out of use because of better projectile weaponery came about.

I don't know about hand thrown darts but I'm fairly sure that blow dart guns are still in use in a few select areas as is the sling of of the older forms of projectile weaponry.

Still doesn't mean they weren't unheard of or really so fantastical you wouldn't even wonder how they could be used.

Darts have been used, although they really weren't made for the battlefield considering even a crossbow would easily outclass a dart. They were really mostly used to assassinate people or in self-defense because something like those can easily be concealed. (Of course, so are daggers&Knives, Butterfly Swords, short swords, and other weapons)

So they count, yeah. Just for unorthodox factor, though they weren't unheard of like someone using a STRAW in the middle of a battlefield or running in carrying an urn of all things.

This could also include Chakrams (though they have somewhat taken up), Boomerangs (Dragon Quest VIII hero and Ryu in Breath of Fire 1 can use them), Toy Hammers, and Greaves. (Chie from Persona 4 and Regal in Tales of symphonia use greaves)

Thinking about it though, I think greaves make some sense. Just with your feet alone you can REALLY hurt someone. Greaves would be like hitting them with metal, and imagine how much leg-strength you'd have after walking around kicking people with those. (How Chie manages to look so light-on-her-feet with Greaves I'll never know)

Also I think the Yo-Yo was based off of a Filipino weapon.

Huh. That's interesting. Maybe they functioned the same way as the non-returning boomerang did.

^ Apparently they hid in Trees and when their prey went beneath them they threw the yo-yos at them. And since it was on a cord, if they missed they simply reeled the yo-yo back up. Pretty smart.

Probably in a similar way, although a boomerang would have much larger range. Cept if oyu missed with that, you didn't get another chance like with a Yo-Yo.

Technically, the Hurly Glove was the weapon itself, where Mario was the ammo. The rest are win, though.
What's the matter, scared?
