Hi again, distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the Gunjin-- I know what you must be thinking, "look at this fool coming and going as he pleases, wtf", but I assure you, this lack of activity on my part is strictly the military's fault. :(

If you're okay with it, I'd like to battle here once more. I know I can't offer a solid, 100% insurance that I'll be able to complete this battle simply because of my work, but at the very least I can try to offer you an entertaining experience with every post. Besides, if things go really well on this side, I might even go for participating in the tournament.

What do you say? Any takers? :)

Hey, why not join the NLBFT? Many skilled fighters there, and we could use fighters with skill like yours in the big event!

But, anyway, welcome back once again. Good luck be with your challenger. :p

Battleground:
Veridyne City Bridge: A once well populated city, with a famously beautiful stone arch bridge sitting over the water. However over a year ago, the people of the city vanished. What happened is still unknown to this day, however based on the scattered vehicles and lack of any signs of resistance it seemed as though the citizens were trying to escape from something...

The time is nightfall, with the bright light of the moon leaving not an object obscured by darkness. Scattered along the bridge are cars, all of which empty but still able to run on the level pavement. The bridge itself remains in excellent condition, with street lamps lighting the path from one end to the other. The water remains unusually calm and two tow boats trailing barges of junk rest near the bridge.

Let's rock an roll.

Sothe walked across the cracked pavement of the arch bridge, the eery silence of the empty city haunting him as he went. He had been hired by the local government to investigate what happaned in this city and search for survivors but for the past week he had yet to find one. The people of the city had vanished without a trace leaveing the emptied city in near perfect condition. It couldn't have been a natural disaster that killed them, there was no sign of it. They couldn't have just abandoned it, his employers would have heard from the survivors by now.

Regardless of what did them in the fact remained that he had been over the entire city and there was no sign of any survivors. Time to call it in and collect his paycheck...

He turned around quickly and stared intently at the empty street.

"Who's there?" he shouted.

No reply.

He started walking again. He could have sworn he heard foot steps...

"I been in this city to damn long"

Step. Step. Step.

Trailing someone was never an easy task, but even with all the metallic cartridges strapped to the thighs and waist locked into place and not making a single sound, Amrick Ukihara still wasn't sure how his target could sense his presence as he swayed from behind the abandoned car husks. Wearing a loosely put black trench coat and a tight ocean-blue shirt underneath, coupled with a pair of equally black pants and shoes, his only contract to the darkness of night was the striking short silver hair and the matching silver eyes that glimmered in the bright moonlight and the abandoned lampposts. However, now that his enemy had the suspicion of being followed, maybe, it was time to get going and reveal himself. After all, it was going to happen before the target left this city sooner or later...

"Talk about suspicious," Amrick stated slowly as he walked out from behind a bus, "walking around the city like that after it's been cleared for so long... I've been checking up on everyone who comes here, you know-- I have a mission." Facing the young man in front of him he brandished his golden steel staff, complete with the magic cartridge revolver-like mechanism and the ruby orb at the tip of a crescent moon shape. "To isolate this area for examination of the Time/Space Administration Bureau... it's a boring job, but sometimes, people do show up, and when that happens-- Prepare for battle, Concierto!" With a menacing bang, the system loaded a cartridge into the staff, energizing it with raw magical energy, and pointing the tip straight at the stranger in front of him, he launched forward, ready to swing and hurt.

A warm start, just like the night and the bridge they were enclosed in. Nothing fancy or flashy, just an exchange of blows to measure the opponent's strength. Simple stuff.

Sothe dodged the strike and reached for F.E.F.L. activating the blue bladed Beam Katana. He moved to parry but took part of the impact from another blow. Sothe aimed a kick at the incoming attacker but was pre-empted with blow from the staff.

"damn...who are you?"

The man gave no response.

"Anti-social much."

Sothe re-activated his beam katana and swung at the man who quickly leaped back.

"Will you atleast give me a name?"

'A beam saber? Who knew individuals in this realm possessed that level of technology? All the same, though, I'll just have to step up the tempo.'

Amrick admired the swift movements of his opponent, studying him, examining his every move. Not only had he infiltrated the city without him knowing, but he almost left it in the same fashion without the magic knight noticing him at all. He didn't know how long he had been around, but for all he knew, the guy was just passing by, and just taking such a close look at this city was reason enough for Amrick to attack the poor chap. But he would extend this battle as much as he could, yes he would: the lapses between people coming through this place were too few and far between, and a chance of entertainment like this, as dangerous as it might be, he would enjoy it to the max.

"My name is Amrick Ukihara, High Magic Knight of the Time and Space Administration Bureau. It's okay if you don't know us, we're not very... popular. But I've been given orders to not let anyone cross this space, and since you already crossed it..." he pointed the staff at the young man again. "I told you my name, only fair that you give me yours... and what you're doing here, by the way." he asked, eyes and senses fixed on the boy.

"My name is Sothe I'm a detective hired to find the source of the disappearances here...If I had to take a shot in the dark I'd say it was you."

Sothe gripped the hilt of his sword. Weather this man was the source of the disappearances or not he could tell from the look on his face that he was itching for a fight. The man ran at him with the rod once more Sothe blocked the first two blows before countering.

'if the whole fight goes like this, it should be easy'

"Sothe, eh? Shame we had to meet like this."

Amrick kept exchanging blows with his opponent, the blazing saber clashing with the golden staff in a shower of sparks with each contact. However, by now the magic knight was having second thoughts about his initial assessment: though he did want to extend this battle as much as possible, a cold chill not related to the night crept up on him and told him that he should take this a little more seriously. After all, regardless of his level of ability, the enemy had a beam saber-type weapon, and that was never really something to toy around with.

"You think I'm the culprit? Oh, how sorely mistaken you are. I just guard this place, like I told you. And since you trespassed..." the ruby orb at the tip of his staff began glowing with a strange white hue, some manner of liquid letters forming into the words 'Rapture's Prelude' as Amrick took a few steps back and aimed towards Sothe. A magic triangle formed below him, illuminating the bridge along the lampposts, and with a fierce banging sound, another cartridge was loaded into the system, the empty shell bouncing off the concrete next to him. Instantly, six small blue energy orbs gathered around the crescent moon tip and fired towards Sothe, one at a time and with every intent to explode upon contact.

Sothe saw the incoming projectiles and knew he wouldn't have much time to make his move. He dodged quickly to the left avoiding most the impact but still being thrown by the shockwave from the explosions.

"Well played..."

Sothe gripped F.E.F.L and ran at his enemy once again, if those magic blasts were any indication then he had severely under-estimated his foe. He decided it was time to step it up. He ran at his enemy moving to attack, his opponent predictably moved to block.

'perfect'

Sothe stopped short and made a swift leg sweep knocking his opponent off his feet.

"We done here yet?"

"Not-- by-- far!"

Reacting to the quickened reaction of his opponent via the wise use of his own blocking, he maneuvered so that he rolled away from Sothe to avoid landing on his butt. It was definitive that Amrick's normal techniques wouldn't cut it now: if he was good enough to dodge Rapture's Prelude, who was to say he wasn't good enough to dodge similar assaults? 'Time to bring out the big guns, Concierto.' he thought as the words Blinding Spark formed inside the ruby orb's confines, and several small sparkles began to gather around the crescent moon tip of the golden staff.

At this point, though, Amrick only looked at three things: his opponent dodging the straightforward particle shots aimed by the tip of his staff, and likewise, the opponent -not- dodging said straight shots and suffering some mild burns at best from each and every one of the 30 small shots. As for the third thing the magic knight looked at... well, he doubted the battle would be over so quickly, but he could only hope.
