Get Your Bard On: Free Challenge
Just for ****s and giggle. We remember the good old days. Terrible writing aside, the fact that a single topic went on for 18 pages is almost amazing. I am suddenly mourning the past. This battle, if I remember, ended up on Tatooine, under a hailstorm of turbolasers from orbiting space-craft as me and Jedi-Master Phantom battled. By that time I had actually forgotten the character I was using and unnoticingly switched to another one. I remember characters actually dying.
Rabble rabble rabble!
You know what, 'm turning this into a discuss past battles topic - name some great battles you remember being in, and noteworthy events in them.

Whoa. Yeah, that was a fun one. I wish more of SuperBard was archived, there are a bunch of old topics I'd really like to be able to go back and peruse.
Forgot that I'd been the one to start that one too. I'm also surprised to note my having used present tense- I generally don't do that in BBS anything. Nevermind, of course, the surprising difference in posting style between me then and me now. I can never recall myself having actually improved much, but this shows a few major improvements.
Particularly, I'd love to have a look at whatever battle it was where I wound up out-insanity-ing Chimpo.
Thanks a lot for posting this, tho', Erd. Gawdz, the memories....

I've hopped across battlefields of asteroids in space, fought one battle that started on a mountainous tundra-and-crystal-tower and ended with half the participants murdered and the ensuing combat on freaking Tatooine...
Quoted for, if I recall correctly, direct relevance. Whoo, I *so* wish I could get ahold of an archived complete version of those old fights like this one.
Erdawn, any ideas how that might be done, since I can't ever seem to get a line out to Erico anymore?

Can't be, there's jack. Old archivers topic on the BF found a page-worth of 2001 Gunjin topics but nothing of real interest. Also I wouldn't know, the only knowledge I have of Erico outside Superbard is his mockeable fairy livejournal.

Where are the other pages? ****.
Some old 2000 NLBF topics, that... how do I find some of those?

No real way that I know of, just that one page and I can't see you being interested in it's contents, my word on that.

forums/518180-post44.html this is a post that Shinigami had me review for him before he posted it, way WAAAAAAY back. I don't recall what I said about it, but I *do* remember startling him with how quickly I read it. Hehe.
Funtimes.

Interesting, how much the standards have changed since then, around here, hasn't it? It's become more about readibility and less about who can write a poem in every muscle-twitch.

Even taken as ultra-dense prose it was awful. I've never seen so many adverbs and needless paragraphs in my life.
Whole paragraphs that were not necessary! My God!

No, Sel, it's become about writing well and not writing lots, which for a while was admired through some kind of pubescent dumbassery.

That link won't open for me, but I can only assume it was the NLBFT final between Shin and I. Should you print that battle out, it would mean the meaningless slaughter of an entire forest.

That post was like reading an episode of Dragon Ball Z. Not just a script, the video and dialogue. And not just an episode, a saga.

Yup. Pretty brutal. It's like going back and reading some of the stuff in-between Superbard and VGF, which probably isn't even there to be found anymore. My stuff, I mean.
*EDIT - Also as a guess I'd rather this battle be between Shinigami and Wyborn.
*Meant to say I think they're talking about the one between Shinigami and Wyborn =p Weird.

What with the whole thing with "Phenom" popping up over and over in that thing, I'm pretty sure it was against him.

In other news, I have just discovered that not only is Shmeckie still out there, he still hates me for reasons he has never adequately explained. He also, apparently, hates the fanfiction I wrote five years ago, never got around to finishing OR revising, and have long since abandoned- enough to want it stomped on.
I swear, I never understood that guy in the least.

I remember an old battle between Joker and some poor soul (no idea who it was).I don't really know if it would be in the archives, because I think the site went down between then and when the site had a whole facelift. The one thing I remember was when Joker used his intestines like snakes of sorts. I remember that fight being one of the most brutal I'd read back in the day.
