THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS!

It's time for the overall Battlefield Awards!

In this ceremony of the battlefield, we decide who our most outstanding members are in which regard by (gasp) NOMINATION AND POPULAR VOTE!

I could jabber on for a while about greatness and people here and maybe something or other honor or whatever, but really... you're not here for that. Ergo- the rules.

Until the beginning of the absolute final battle of the NLBFT, you can make nominations for the various categories- simply send me a private message consisting of:

(Category): (Name of Nominee)

Once the time comes, I'll post a secondary topic with the complete list of nominees, and then the voting can commence!

Alright- now it's time for the categories! They are:

Best New or Returning from Absence Member
This is, as stated, for the best person either joining us here for the first time within the last year OR just coming back from an extended time in that nebulous elsewhere!

Best Battler
...what, you can't figure this one out?

Most Deadly
This one's not about winning, folks- this is about BRUTALITY. Nominees for this category should be the ones who've made you wince in empathy for the poor shmuck they're mutilating.

Most Enduring
As with Most Deadly, this isn't about long battles. If there's someone who just keeps getting back up, someone who impresses you with their ability to simply survive and soak it up, then this is what you nominate them for.

Most Imaginative
If there's anyone out there who just keeps making you go 'Whoa, I'd have never thought of that'- and in a good way- you probably should be nominating them here!

Best Battlefield
Pretty straightforwards, yes? The person who made the coolest battlefield goes here.

Best Story Topic
We haven't been having a lot of these lately, but hey- it's still a valid category. Your favorite story topic recently? Nominate its creator for this.

Most Improved
If there's someone whose ability to battle and to write has improved more than anyone else, someone who you're proud to say you've helped get better, whoever you think of like that- this is the place for them.

Worst N00B
And that's not as in 'worst at being a'. For this category, you nominate the person who's the most sure they're an expert- and the absolute most WRONG about it. This has nothing to do with being new- and everything to do with being unwilling to admit your own need to learn.

Best Descriptions
Nominees for this? Whoever you thought had the best descriptive writing over the last year. Whether it impressed the hell out of you, painted the perfect image in your mind, or flat out blew you away- if it was truly remarkable, you nominate here.

Best New Character to Appear in a Fight
This category is entirely new, because it's something that really warrants thinking about and hasn't been included in previous award sets. Here's where you nominate the writer whose character that only just came onto the scene this year most impressed you- and make sure you note which character you're nominating them for! If someone's really lucky, they might wind up competing with themself....

Best Overall Character to Appear in a Fight
As the previous category, but regarding all characters who've fought here over the last year. Do you root for Richter? Woot for Wyborn? Are you a fan of Fury? Gaga for Galefore? Have you ranted about Reiko? Maybe you're a Metal Man maniac? Do you, by chance, idolize Inferno or eeeeeeeee! for Erdawn? Will you rave about Repster? Perhaps someone less iconic? Or moreso?

Least Fearsome
If there's someone out there who simply totally fails to worry you when they fight, who just isn't a big deal to you- nominate them here.

Most Fearsome
And, big man? This one's the category for the one who makes you quake in your boots. If you'd rather go up against every army in the world with only a fruit knife for a weapon than fight one particular battlefielder, you nominate them here. Or, you know, if they just make you really really nervous and nobody else does. (Don't worry, we won't tell anyone about you peeing your pants.)

*SPECIAL AWARD*
And this... is an experiment. You nominate an award idea that you don't see here, everyone votes between the options- and then the Secret Council convenes and hands this award to whomever they deem worthy of it- whatever it turns out to be. If you really really want to see someone get an award for an inventive and bloody use of a kosher dill spear, well... hell, why not?

Remember- Nominate via PM! You can nominate for more than one category, or just one, but you only get to nominate one person for each category!

Note: If you're bringing this back... It might be an idea to give the awards themselves a few particulars names on it as they did some time ago. Names that are usually always thought of in the category even if they have not done anything lately.

Most Deadly had joker's, and enduring my own, battlefield was Iron Warrior I believe... And Fearsome had Wyborn. Can't remember the others though...

It's what happens when particular people win an award oh so many times. It just adds that extra little personal touch.

I don't think that applies anymore, Repster - memories of those awards tend to linger only in the oldest of us. Most of the people battling now barely remember Iron Warrior, if at all. And it makes it awkward if the person who the award is named after happens to win again (not liable to happen anymore, but true).

And...is it just me, or are we missing "Best Battler"?

Eh - like I said. My memory's fuzzy. All I'm saying I recall him saying some weird stuff as to why he left and didn't want to associate with any of us, period, any more. Though I guess he's still in some contact if you knew he's off on DeviantArt now. Not trying to bad mouth him. I was always fond of him.

I'm looking forward to seeing the nominations/results of this years awards.

As a side note: Wyborn's right, I do recall chatting with him (Iron Warrior) on AIM once a great while back and he did mention it was his growing talent / interest at DeviantArt that resulted in his continued absence here. I was actually very entertained by one of his last battles here which was in fact against Wyborn. You two were really going at it and the battle wasn't even half way done.

As always its good to see you still lurking around LTS, and Repster I agree with Wyborn, there's no need to attach any of the names to the awards associated with them. Selene has re-started a great thing here and I think her setups work just fine with out the old names attached. I do appreciate the gesture of suggesting restoring the old format though
