OoC: I've been feeling up to a battle for a while now; made at least 2 characters since my last fight, and can't wait to try one of them out. Hopefully there is someone who wants to fight despite the tourney going on still.

Basic Gunjin Rules. Also, though its not the normal way to do open challenges, I hope you don't mind me taking the battlefield/opening post. Its selfish; but I could use some work in both I feel, and I want to get fighting without much of a wait...

The sun hovered high in the air, beaming down upon a bare field; only plants and a single man within it. The man almost looked human, aside from two black horns at the side of his head, sticking out of his brown and slightly spiked hair where ones ears would be. He wore what most would consider strange clothing; almost formal looking white robes, with a slight cut through the sides of them. A blue sash wrapped around his waist, holding a thin blade within its sheathe. Lastly, there was a single plate of armor covering the top portion of his chest, seemingly misplaced with the rest of his outfit.

He paid little attention to the sun above him or the field around him as he walked forwards. The gaze of his pale violet eyes affixed to a silver mirror that floated just above the palm of his left hand. He was almost in a trance, as if the mirror was what was controlling every action he had made.

It was almost true. His desires for power and wisdom are what made him move forward, the mirror simply showing him where to find it. Within the mirror was what he sought, a simple charm, which although small held a fragment of a god’s power. He grinned as the thought that yet another piece to the puzzle of making himself like a god would soon be in his grasp. He continued walking towards the item’s resting place, a shrine amongst the mountains.

Within the hour he had reached his destination, a large mountain range, where the item would surely be inside of it. No longer needing its guidance, he pointed at the mirror with his left hand. As he did, the inside of his mirror vanished, leaving just a silver ring, surrounded by 4 sapphire gemstones. The ring floated in the air, and then rested itself upon the wrist of his left arm.

He traveled through a short pass cut through the mountain range and climbed over various walls until he had reached a small clearing, as well as the shrine he had been seeking. The shrine had been reduced to ruins by time and weather; fallen pillars littered the area around it, and the entrance into it had collapsed in onto itself. Still, he knew he would have to find someway in to attain his power.

It would not be as easy as he would have hoped however, as an unknown figure stood besides the shrine; hidden by the shadows cast by the mountains which towered above. An obstacle. Another threat to his power. He began to walk towards the figure, drawing a thin sword into his right hand from his side, ready to end whoever or whatever dared to block his path.

The shadows cleared as the horned-man walked foward, and he caught a glance at his foe. He was, by appearances, a tall and lanky human male, garbed in a brown coat that obscured his body and looked very worn. Suddenly, moving with uncanny speed, the man whirls around, a massive, antique rifle appearing in his hands...

It appeared that his source had been correct.... These ruins fit the description he had been given. Somewhere inside was the jewel he had been hired to retrieve. Reyvark smiled slightly as he considered the amount he would be recieving for such a simple task. The entrance had collapsed, but that would hardly stop him. The mercenary was just begining to step foward when he heard someone approaching, and the sound of metal scraping against leather. In one smooth motion, he whirled around, drawing a very odd looking firearm, and beading it on the new arrivals forehead. He was little suprised by the stranger's horns and garb, having seen much stranger things in his line of work. Regardless, it seemed this mission had grown a little more exciting.

'Lovely day for a stroll, wouldn't you say?' He said, slowly moving back towards the shrine....

Kairav, the man in the oddly dressed clothes continued to walk towards the man in between him and the shrine. He wasn't sure why the man was here, or what it was he was carrying, but he didn't care as long as the treasure became his. He would not give up on his goals easily, and a single man in his path would not stop him.

The man in the brown coat spoke. A lovely day for a stroll? Kairav thought. "Yes, but it won't be for you much longer," He spoke back at the other man.

He ran towards the shrine, his thin sword in his right hand, raised upwards to strike at his foe. The other man scoffed, adjusting his rifle slightly before squeezing at the trigger. A boom echoed through the mountains as he fired, leaving Kairav slightly shaken by the sudden sound. He also noticed something moving through the air; it was incredibly small, but it was heading right towards him, towards his head. He barely managed to shift his head in time as the bullet flew past him at remarkable speeds.

Kairav looked back at the man in the brown coat, who was now placing another bullet into his rifle. He knew he would need to close in the gap between them or else he would have little chance to reach his goal. He continued his run toward the shrine, hoping to make more ground before the man could fire at him again.

Reyvark cursed under his breath as the horned-man dodged his shot, and continued charging towards him. Throwing aside the rifle, he drew two blunderbusses from under his coat and fired again, only to have the shots deflected by Kairav's sword. 'This beef's too quick for these... Reyvark thought, leaping to the side to avoid decapitation as his foe charged past. Discarding his useless firearms, he drew from a pocket a small rod. Pressing a button on the side, the rod lengthened out and became a metallic staff, just in time to swat aside another of Kairav's slashes. Twirling the staff with the ease of a master, Reyvark deflected attack after attack, retreating back towards the collapsed shrine. As they reached one of the only standing pillars, Reyvark switched to the offensive. Swiping both ends of his staff with blinding speed, he delivered a vicious pugil strike to his opponents head, sending him stumbling backwards.

As his foe fell back, Reyvark spun around to the opposite side of the pillar, and landed a solid kick to its base. The aged stone toppled over, landing on Kairav with a resounding THUD! Reyvark gave the staff a final twirl and retracted it, placing it back in a pocket. He lightly jumped on to the pillar and walked down it's length, stopping above his trapped opponent. ' You're in a rather precarious situation, my friend...' He said, drawing a third blunderbuss and aiming down at the horned-man's face. ' But I might find myself feeling generous if you tell me why you happen to be on this mountain. Is it about the jewel?'

OoC: Well, I'm sorry about the wait in posting... But now I'm sorry because I have no clue how to escape from such a situation. My character doesn't have the strength to just throw it off of him in a second, and I can't really escape either. Basically you just leave me with talking...

Kairav growled and struggled, squirming his entire body at once in an attempt to pull himself out from under the stone pillar. It did little good however, his arms were pinned and what little he could move his legs did nothing. His struggles barely moved it an inch. As he heard a click above him he stopped and looked up at the mercenary, now aiming his gun down towards the center of his head. He spoke to Kairav, asking him if he was here for the jewel.

Kairav glared back at him, responding with anger in his voice. "Of course. What else of value is in this desolate place?"

OOC: Uh, sorry about that.

Little did the two combatants know, their conflict had awakened ancient devices in the sprawling labyrinth beneath the shrine. So powerful an artifact was not left unguarded, and the forces set to protect it had survived through the eons....

'Hm... It seems quite a few factions are after this jewel. It must be more valuable than my client was letting on...' Reyvark thought. He might just keep it for himself. As he considered, Kairav struggled some more against the stone crushing him into the ground. 'You're going to tell me what you know about this je-' Reyvark began to say, but his words were cut short by a deep rumble. He stopped and listened as the rumbling grew louder, and the ground began to shake beneath them. Realizing what was about to happen, Reyvark springed to the side as the ground exploded, hurling the pillar and Kairav into the air. Up from the hole climbed a crystalline behemoth, a vaguely humanoid shape. The ground shook again as the golem stood, showing its towering height of fifteen feet. It silently scanned the area, finally spotting upon the two intruders. Raising massive fists, it lurched foward, swiping at Reyvark with suprising speed. The blow sent the mercenary flying, to smash into the ground near a recovering Kairav.

Reyvarl quickly rolled to his feet, firing at the Golem with pinpoint accuracy. The bullets didn't seem to bother the creature at all, bouncing off it's bejeweled hide. 'Damn.' He cursed, as the immense figure stomped fowards...

If it isn't one thing its another... Kairav thought as he got up, angry over how everything was now going against his initial plans. He stared at the Golem, its massive crystaline figure stomping towards him and Reyvark, each step booming through the mountains and shaking the earth. It seemed to completely ignore Reyvark's attacks, bullets bouncing off it as it approached.

The Golem stopped as it reached the two, lifting its arm into the air to crush the intruders before it. Reyvark quickly ran to the side and stopped a good distance away from the Golem. Kairav on the other hand just jumped right slightly to evade its attack, ready to counter with his sword. However the Golem's fist crashing to the ground stopped that plan, the shaking ground making him fall onto his back. The Golem once more lifted his arm as Kairav raced to get onto his feet and away from the Golem. He managed to get onto his feet and out of range just as another earthshaking punch knocked him down once more. His sword most likely shattered or in the least buried into the ground from its last attack.

Kairav ran from the beast, taking the ring around his left wrist into his hand. It was not the greatest for combat, but it would have to do in order to defend him from his opponents.

Reyvark watched as the golem went after Kairav relentlessly, it's blows missing by a smaller margin with each strike. It was only a matter of time until the construct killed the horned-man, and then it would come after him. Reyvark rather enjoyed living, though, so he quickly tried to think of a way to stop the creature before it turned its attention to him. Maybe he could harm the beast if he made use of his implants... Very risky, as he would have to get up close to do any damage to the colossal golem. Taking a deep breath, Reyvark pressed a finger to the side of his neck, pushing in a barely noticable bump. He shivered as the switch activated the complex machines in his body, pumping chemicals and stimulants into his muscles. The world seemed to slow around him, the Golem and Kairav moving in slow motion. With utter calm, he drew his staff and sprinted foward, moving at inhuman speed...

Kairav had just pulled out a ring when a blur sped between him and the Golem, accompanied with a loud CRACK! The Golem paused as a slight crack appeared on its leg. It looked down to see Reyvark standing at its feet, His shattered staff discarded. The golem's massive fist sped through the air, slamming the ground with the force of a lightningstrike, but it had missed. Leaping upon its arm, the Mercenary sprinted up to its head and put all his strength into a vicious kick. The golem's head shattered under the force of the blow, sprinkling the ground with shards. It teetered to the side, and fell with colossal force upon the ground. The earth collapsed beneath it, sending Reyvark and Kairav plummeting into the ruins below...

OoC: Sorry... I've been sick for about a while now, and I really can't focus that well right now.

Kairav lifted himself with his arms, off of the pile of rocks and crystal shards he landed on, before he got up onto his feet. Most of his chest was bruised and cut up, the entire front of his robes now reddened with blood. He looked around, the once dark battlefield now even darker within the depths of the ruins. He could barely see in the ruins, what little light that fell through coming from the hole in the ceiling.

He saw a silhouette in the distance, it was not very large, so it was probably the mercenary. Kairav snuck into the shadows, circling around the beams of light from outside.
