NLBFT 11 Award Ceremony

It was one of those days when Acradius Journeyman loved having the powers he did. He stood atop the battered, rusting hulk of a 1967 Chevrolet truck, the kind that only putter out when you drive them with too much alcohol. Looking around him, he smiled. This was one of those places that had infinite potential, if one only knew where, or rather, how, too look.

His eyes glowed a fierce white, as he looked around the inner-city trash heap in the middle of one of the less fashionable neighborhoods of Tokyo. He peered through the mists and veils of time, and saw what this place could have been.

He saw a black and white film being played on a giant Drive-In screen, with everyone around him watching intently from their cars about how Japan, with its divine power, defeated the US army, and then took on the Germans all by themselves. He blinked, and he was in a nature preserve set up by the Chinese government. Again, and he was in the midst of a night club in the most popular part of the high-tech Neo Tokyo. Once more, and he was in...

Just where was he anyway? The place was empty, but it was obvious someone tried to build something here. White stone all over the place, billboards from the 1990s, a small section of track, a trench, and what looked like makeshift ramps and halfpipes. His eyes glowed brighter, and he looked at the whole city. This was a city where the people were culturally oppressed by a mega-corporation named the Rokakku group. But fighting against that oppression were the youth. Nicknamed Rudies, they blazed by the rest of the pedestrian populace on magnetic rollerblades, and fought the drab gray of the business world with the bright, vibrant colors of spaypaint.

Smiling, Acradius decided that it would be here. Reaching through the fabrics of time and space, he opened the usual portal. He also summoned many places to relax, with various types of seating. Also present, under the small balcony he stood upon, were the infinitely replenishing buffet tables. There wasn't much room, so people would just have to wait for their favorite food to appear when something else vanished.

As for the music? He just turned on the radio... Which station you ask? What other station would be appropriate? He tuned into Professor K's pirate broadcast: Jet Set Radio.

Alrightythen everyone! Welcome to the 11th NLBFT Award Ceremony! For those of you who have been here before, welcome back, and for you and those who are first-timers, I'm going to lay down some ground rules.

1. No fighting. This is an inn-like topic. Any fighting will get you booted out of here faster than you can look at your watch.

2. Awards will be given to you only AFTER you get knocked out of the tournament.

3. All who participated in the tournament will get a prize, as long as they show up to claim it. As a stipulation, if you were present in the tournament with multiple characters, please select only one to bring here. I don't want to have to pull more prize support out of my bottom than I already do.

4. Anyone, whether you're in the tourney or not, even if you're still fighting (I love being a Time Warrior) is welcome to come and have a good time.

5. Don't be an ass, and have fun!

Now let's get to it!

What about last tournament's awards? Weren't they ever going to happen?

Nope. I was way too swamped with life in general to do them last time.

Oh. Well I remember I think I offered to do them. No one answered my question. I think I remember there use to be an anual award thing, too. If no one wants to do it, I'm up for it.

An incredibly well dressed man wearing a one-eyed mask and carrying a graffiti-covered trunk walked past the broken crates and empty spray cans that marked the entrance of the award ceremony grounds. As he did, a boy clad in vivid orange and turquoise gear zoomed in his direction, intent on mastering his newest set of tricks.

Completely focused on preparing, the garishly styled skater had no time to react when the masked man deliberately thudded the case down in his path.

Calmly walking towards the Time Warrior as the child flew into the pile of crates, the man tapped his golden mask where the right eye should have been and gratingly exclaimed, “I hate it here already.”

In his usual good humor, Acradius ignored the sour comment and asked, “What took you so long, Mr. Alchemist.”

The Alchemist’s retort was simple, “I was baking cookies.”

Enjoying the bewildered expression on Acradius’ face, he continued, “I am here only as a favor to the sponsor.” The armored knight thought to himself for a moment before stating, “There is no sponsor.”

Without skipping a beat, the masked man replied, “No, I suppose there never is.” Snapping back to his usual businesslike demeanor, the man extended his right arm, “I am Chase Asphonse, and I already know who you are, but where are all of the warriors, this ordinance can‘t be for just one man.”

<OOC>
Haha, this is great. One of my characters is currently nothing but an inanimate torso, and the other doesn't exist out of a hard drive. Totally appropriate for a bar situation, right?

Aidan sat there. How he got there was a mystery. He was a sneaky little bugger. Feet up, relaxing with a bottle of rum, singing pirate shanties. He even went so far as to have a fake hook hand and wooden leg. Black curved brim hat with the skull and crossbones in white on the front.
