thanks joker, you're right and I apologize for my actions and actually I allready write for myself, I write at a pace and length that I like in my style. sure my writing may not be as polished as others but I'm comfortable with it the way it is and I personally don't like to type for my opponent's character in my post because in doing so I run the risk of misplaying their character and I would feel horrible if I did that. see, that's the thing that some of the newer members don't realize is that when you play someone elses character you have to take into careful consideration as to how they would act, what actions they would take in combat and you'd have to do extensive research to actually play someone's character RIGHT. so I just avoid all that by trying not to play their characters as little as possible if at all.
beware the power of Bahamut\'s eldest son.

Err...
There's something wrong with that statement, Inferno.
I'll give you a more in-depth explanation in PM. I once more strongly suggest that you take this to PM's or a separate thread aimed at the relevant people (in this case, T3h darkness and Galefore, unless I missed something) instead of cluttering this up any further.

Woo sleep deprivation!
Apologies for the delay; I've been tearing my hair out trying to write up a D&D campaign setting, and thus have been doing this sporadically. Now then, onto the battles:
1) Acradius versus Galefore (Best quote: “And I believe this... belongs to you.”)
In this outing, Galefore's writing was good, but some situations he left maybe a bit too much room for interpretation, and thus problems arose. Which is probably for the best, as a character that can move so fast as to be unseen at will would be nigh unstoppable. However, your performance after that was solid and well written, which balances it out nicely. Acradius similarly put up a good fight, and his ability to work with difficult situations and provide intuitive counters to them gives him a slightly better score.
Galefore: (7/10)
Acradius: (8/10)
2) Inferno versus Kargath (Best quote: "What the hell man, love energy?")
I typically don't rate people based on spelling; even a great writer will make a mistake now and again. But come on, at least make the attempt to spell check. That being said, I found Kargath's skill in this battle, both in what he wrote and how he fought, to be the greater. His posts were lengthy, but at the same time provided both good information and situational detail. He included character development for himself, kept the terrain in mind, and recognized his opponent both in damage dealt and statements made. By contrast, Inferno's posts felt less like fluid combat and more like how one trades moves in an RPG. In addition, his additions of back-story, while respected, felt somewhat tacked on to boost length. As for both cases of healing or godmoding, Inferno's was cosmetic and Kargath's, while vicious, did leave an opening for recovery. There have been far worse wounds dealt in VGF history, as I'm sure some (*CoughJoker*) can attest to, thus decreasing its score repercussions.
Inferno: (4/10)
Kargath: (6/10)
3) MC Palazzo versus Scripture (Best quote: "...the nerve-ending sensation of someone else being around told him to get a new job.")
I have to hand it to you; you did a far better job than most I’ve seen in making the battle feel less like a random event and more like a story. The way you managed to integrate back-stories, with or without prior plotting, was well done. While the both of you fought well, Scripture's writing was a bit more flavorful to read (I especially like the nice use of metaphor), so he inches in for the win in my book.
Scripture: (8/10)
Kefka Mushi Mo: (7/10)
4) Wyborn versus Erdawn (Best quote: "...stem-chewing, goomba-looking stereotype son of a bitch!")
By far the most difficult fight to judge. As a battle between such writing titans can hardly be decided blow-by-blow, as the both of them were equally visceral in their handouts, I decided to look more at the overall feel of their posts. While Wyborn's characters are always excellent to behold, I found Erdawn's choice to be particularly intriguing: a classic, if somewhat remixed, character for his combatant. Most would consider this to be a natural handicap; after all, everyone knows what Mario does; he jumps really high, breaks stuff with his fists/head (depends on who you ask), and takes his pick from a well-documented list of abilities. Seems like it would be boring to read; there's nothing new. But Erdawn not only made him seem more like a character and less like an icon, but he made his generic, ubiquitous abilities interesting and exciting to read, so I have to give him props - and the point - for that.
Wyborn: (9/10)
Erdawn: (10/10)
5) Luigi007 versus Asnabel (Best quote: "Dude, did you just freaking break my weapon?")
You people need to post more often; it's hard to rate a fight that's barely more than one attack from the each of you. Though I know that for some it takes time to build up combat steam, Luigi's attacks seemed far tamer than Asnabel's savage sortie into smacktown. Side note: As your character was designed around your weapon, your rebuttal to it's sundering was hardly cheap; just try to pack more party favors in the future.
Asnabel: (7/10)
Luigi007: (6/10)
6) Deathscythe versus Metal Man (Best quote: "...Whatever you are... I'm going to wreck you!!" somehow reminds me of Garland.)
This one felt a bit routine to me. While there were some good moments, most was just classic brawling between two heavies with big hammers. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, it would be nice to see some excitement with the bloodspray. Metal Man felt more active here though, and thus pulls ahead, despite a slight overreaction to being misplayed by his opponent.
Expiration by bleeding out: (5/10)
Alloy guy: (7/10)
7) Swordmaster Link versus Repster (Best quote: "If you weren't a hallucination I'd kill you.")
Sadly, another short battle. I haven't seen Repster's writing in ages, though, so it was nice to see how far you've come on that end. That being said, as SML's single post is hardly grounds to be called an attack, Repster wins by default.
SML: (N/A) (We'll call it a 5 for scoring's sake.)
Repster: (8/10)
8) Dhampir versus Selene Starblade (Best quote: A tie between "O_O...... T_T" and "I don't throw curveballs, I throw corkscrews.")
Despite Wyborn and Erdawn having one of their infamous epic brawls in the first round of fighting, this was my favorite so far of the tournament. MAK0-70 was truly interesting and amusing, as only an emoticon-speaking warbot can be (^_^), while Vevech proved to be an interesting conglomeration of designs (Though trying to piece together exactly how he looks defies my brain's visual/spatial abilities >_o), providing an interesting and unique conflict in the (all-too short) battle. But, I have to hand it to Selene: not only was her writing and combat exemplary, but MAK injected a good bit of amusement to the fight, raising it above the routine and making it memorable.
Awesome robot: (10/10)
Galactus/Mollusk/T-1000: (8/10)
And there you go. If anyone wishes to make a rebuttal, tell me how many ways I suck, or recite a dissertation on my inadequacies (All are not necessarily dissimilar), feel free to do so through PMs. However, unless it's truly insightful or logical, the scores stay .

Ah, now I know what my problem is. I'm a bit rusty from a lack of battling. Ah well... this tournament should help with that.

Ahhh ESSDEE passed on your condolences. And, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for your warm thoughts and comfort!! I do appreciate it deeply. Generally, I would have kept this extremely private but circumstances and responsibilities made it not so. It has been a mixed-up week but as is the way things are, the living keep living. And, to be immersed into the fantasy that you aspiring writers have offered up has been wonderful in its distractions.
Now… on to what I have spent many hours over the past two days doing…
Alpha Division:
4. Luigi007 versus 6. Asnabel
3. Inferno versus 8. Kargath
2. Acradius versus 1. Galefore
5. Wyborn versus 7. Erdawn
Bets Division:
9. MC Mushi Mo versus 14. Scripture
10. Deathscythe versus 11. Metal Man
12. Swordmaster Link versus 15. Repster
13. Dhampir versus 16. Selene Starblade
Alpha Division
Luigi007 vs Asnabel
Luigi007
I liked your choice of character and even from the brief description was able to form an adequate mental image of him. Your choice of battlefield was cool and I felt you could have detailed the oasis so much more. It was still a nice opening!! Those were interesting attacks!! Nice change from what I usually read!! Be careful to acknowledge the damage your knight has experienced.
Asnabel
Lovely introduction and description of your character!! Well done!! Very nice retaliation and good detail to your attack. I liked the intensity and directness of your assault. Your warrior’s personality was apparent and I was looking forward to seeing this battle develop further.
Luigi007: 6.4
Asnabel: 7.1
Inferno Dragon vs Kargath
Inferno Dragon
As I meet your character, I am dismally aware that I have no mental image of this creature who has “dragonic, yellow eyes” and wields a katana. It is important to assume that you need to introduce and describe your character at every “beginning”. Even when you feel the audience and/or your opponent should know. Your attacks were somewhat predictable in the end, and I had no idea how you created a “fire clone” because you didn’t take any time to explain it. The description was lacking where it was actually needed.
Kargath
What a fascinating introduction to the battlefield in your opening post!! That being said, I was “impatient” to meet your character. It was worth the wait… but it also leaves your opponent waiting as well. Your attacks were effective and innovative, and overall, you tell a story that makes it a pleasure to read and immerse oneself in.
Before I Judged this battle, I was linked to a post of each that was considered to breach certain Rules; namely healing and god-moding. I see through the posts following that it was pointed out to you both, but as is my duty, my scores reflect a point penalty for this infraction.
Inferno Dragon: 5.2
Kargath: 6.7
Acradius vs Galefore
Acradius
Very sweet introduction to your character. Your attacks and counter-attacks were remarkable. You describe things fluently enough so that I enjoyed being drawn into the story you were relating!!
Galefore
You chose a wonderful battlefield and described it and your character well. Some of your ideas seemed left open and I was left floundering as to how things were happening in the beginning. Your writing improved from this point, though. Your detailed attacks were exciting and with my zany sense of humour, I laughed at that final word!!
Acradius: 7.6
Galefore: 7.3
Wyborn vs Erdawn
(Best battle of this round!! And the most difficult for me in terms of making a decision as to the eventual ‘winner’ of this one.)
Wyborn
Great introduction… I have always enjoyed that you leap straight into battle!! You have inventive attacks and acknowledge all aspects of the battle. Tis an intense pleasure to read the tale you weave!!
Erdawn
I’ve never met Mario in such an eloquent way before. WELL DONE!! Your description is wonderful. You’re expressive and the attacks you used were entertaining!! I was enthralled and found myself wanting so much more… this narrative was incredible!!
Wyborn: 9.6
Erdawn: 9.7
Beta Division
MC Mushi Mo (aka Kefka) vs Scripture
Kefka
Great background to your character!! I was interested in his mindset considering his mortality rushing at him. As with your opponent, I would have enjoyed a more detailed description of your knight. I felt that your attacks were not as effective in the beginning, but you warmed up to them from that point. You improved as you wrote more… well done!!
Scripture
Very cool opening and great description of actions!! However, I would have liked to have known more of what your warrior looked like. This was a well thought-out battle, to me. You have good detail to your attacks. Everything followed smoothly and the consequences of the attacks were believable!! Good job!!
Kefka: 7.3
Scripture: 7.7
Deathscythe vs Metal Man
Deathscythe
Very good beginning with a nice description to your character. Your attacks were nice, yet could have done with a little more detail to add to the atmosphere. You may benefit from reading your work out loud to yourself. ;-)
Metal Man
Great description of your warrior… I loved the mental image I have of him!! You had a variety of interesting attacks, however, some of it was a tad disjointed in how things came to happen. Be careful to read your opponent’s attacks upon your character so as to not seem to skip over them.
Deathscythe: 6.6
Metal Man: 7.2
Swordmaster Link vs Repster
Swordmaster Link
I was looking forward to this battle and you… denied… me… BAH!! I feel that your opening post could have done with more description of your character past his boots and tunic!! That said, I know that is was likely you’d have elaborated had you continued.
Repster
I truly enjoy your introductions… such humour amongst the madness just appeals to my sense of humour!! Good diversity with your attacks and I was looking forward to more fire, too!!
Swordmaster Link: Forfeited.
Repster: 7.1
Dhampir vs Selene Starblade
Dhampir
The mental image I formed from your description defies an explanation!! :-P I was intrigued by this creature and enjoyed his adamant declarations and attacks. What a shame you didn’t have a chance to continue!!
Selene Starblade
Your introduction was great and the details were exquisite. I loved how expressive your character was!! Wonderful description and well presented attacks. I was fascinated to being privy to your bots thoughts!! You captivated my attention!!! AWESOME JOB!!
When you create the action figure of MAK0-70, I’d like an autographed version, please!! ;-)
Dhampir: Forfeited
Selene Starblade: 9.7
Well, that’s it. This faerie is exhausted… not only from lack of sleep but much else besides. I thank you for your patience and will return later to read all the goings-on in the past few days… now, off to face the world yet again!!

Repster 5+8+7.1 = 20.1 Winner
Dhampir -4+8+N/A = 4
Selene 8+10+9.7 = 27.7 Winner ( as well as highest in the round) .
Which pretty much leaves us off with...
Alpha Division.
Asnabel Vs. Kargath
Acradius Vs. Erdawn
Beta Division.
Scripture Vs. Metal Man
Repster Vs. Selene.
Of course... I could be mistaken.
Luigi007 3+6+6.4 = 15.4
Asnabel 5+7+7.1 = 19.1 Winner.
Inferno 1+4+5.2 = 10.2

Acradius 6+8+7.6 = 21.6 Winner.
Galefore 5+7+7.3 = 19.3
Wyborn 7+9+9.6 = 25.6
Erdawn 6+10+9.7= 25.7 Winner.
Kefka 4+7+7.3 = 18.3
Scripture 5+8+7.7 = 20.7 Winner
Deathscythe 3+5+6.5= 14.6
Metal Man 5+7+7.2= 19.2 Winner

When our world is burning.
When all run like the cowards they are.
I shall stand in the inferno, and fight until I am consumed

well, I expected as much. but what I didn't expect was my grandfather dieing today at 6:15 this evening. which officially makes this week the S***tyest week ever. at least I got to see Video Games Live tonight which took my mind off of his death for a while. He'd be 89 next month. :(
well, I better get started drawing up plans for my trial by fire tourny. I need to be alone for a while now.

Woah. According to my calculations, I'm about dead middle as far as scores go. Though Scripture looks to be a tougher foe... we'll see how good I can do next round. Anyway, a good fight for all.

Aha?
Is that right? Repster's my next opponent? Well well, this *will* be interesting. Even if he isn't, it will.
Just so you know, Rep, I'm not feeling very Yume, so don't expect this to wind up an Aidan vs. Yume rematch.
On a side note, I'm suddenly realizing that several of my major battlers (Reiko, Akane, Akki, Pyra) are heavily fire-linked, and of them, only one isn't inherently immune to the element.
Good thing I have so many, many options.
Inferno, my condolences on your loss. I wish I could empathize, but I was never particularly close with my father's parents while they were around, and I think I've only met my mother's once, if at all. Treasure that you knew him and spent time with him; that, I think, is the best way to remember, yes?
