I'll take a whack at reviewing a game...
I'm reviewing this game because it was the first game that got me addicted to the survival horror games.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics are pretty good for a PS 1 game. The only thing I don't like is when you're walking down a road, sometimes the buildings and roads blend together, making a freaky looking color. Other then that, the lighting is GREAT. Konami was great with matching the darkness to match the games mood. In the beginning of the game, you're in broad daylight, but then, they throw you into darkness, with the only source of finding your way around is a flashlight, and a radio which emits static when monsters come near. Then, when you least expect it,they throw you back into daylight. Near the end of the game, there's no daylight,at all.
Sound: 9/10
The sound is really good, and detailed. I would have given it a ten,if the radio didn't sound so annoying... instead of static,it sounds like a ringing phone. As for music... The only music is in the intro, which sounds very smooth.
Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is AWESOME! Even though it has 3-D control scheme, which means your character moves foward in whatever direction he's facing, back makes him back peddle, and right and left make him turn. When he runs, then stops he doesn't stop on a dime, though that's alright,it adds more realism to the game. He skids after running a while. When you hit the Caution button,he readies his weapon rather quickly.
Story: 7/10
This is the low point of the game, the story's kind of weak...
Harry Mason is driving towards the resort town of Silent Hill with his daughter,Cheryl. Then,a figure pops out of nowhere. Harry turns franticly, and rides off the road and knocked out. When he awakens,Cheryl is missing, thus starts the search for Cheryl.
Overall:
9/10
